    New Scrap Hauler

So, a few days ago, i was scouring Craigslist late at night trying to find a decent deal on car i could flip quick. I came across a nice older truck and ended up calling the guy the next morning. I went out to look at it the day after and quickly realized that i wont be able to get rid of it. 15 minutes later and $450 poorer, i became the proud owner of a 1966 Ford F500. Doesnt run but its complete. It has the 330 and 4 speed manual. Im going to get it running, drive it around for a while, then tear it apart. I will be dropping in a first gen 7.3 and ZF5 because the 330 sucks but i mostly just love diesel. Also, ill be building a flatbed for it but that may end up waiting until after winter. Anyways, thats all i have for it right now. Hopefully this one works out better than past vehicles

You are well beyond my knowledge level, but the 7.3 diesel has served me well for over 15 years. 250,000 miles and still purrs like a kitten. Main machine although the option of four others is available. Good luck.

Thank you. I will need it.

Everyone hates on the 7.3s (at least over here) but theyre great engines. I will say that there are definitely more powerful diesel engines available but im a Ford guy and a purist. Not to mention i can get 7.3s with a turbo and under 200,000 miles for around $1000 over here

When I was hauling RV's commercially I had a friend (mechanic) found me a Mercedes diesel with 5 speed out of a box truck. It would have had about 50 more HP than the Chevy diesel. We had measured everything and it would have been an easy fit (without shoehorn). And reasonable to rebuild. This was going to go in my Chevy dually but the first gulf war struck and the RV business went right out the window.

It may be a while before i can even start on an engine swap. Seem to be lacking a place with a roof right now. Hopefully the engine runs alright so i can focus on the rust and think about getting it home. Its going to a friends farm about 120 miles north-west of me
