YES I second this --- work shirts - orange vest - carry a construction cone in the back of your truck bed - . The uniforms make a huge difference in the way people look at u. Especially when you get one of those jobs where you stink really bad

It's just something they don't understand. Way back in grade school, usually the first guy to get a girlfriend got teased. HAH! Then everyone grows up and realizes the real world and that they want a girlfriend as well.
I happen to be proud of the fact that I increase my income through hard work and learned knowledge. Not to mention saving things from the landfill at the same time.
The term I hear is garbage picker. Take notes kid, so you can recognize the many other scrappers in your neighborhood and insult them too. Then you could ask your parents how they're doing on your college fund, if they think you're smart enough.
Surprisingly, I've only ever really gotten into two fights my entire high school career. And one of them was with a 30+ year old man... Once I was standing up for myself, and once for my little brother. I'm 6'2", I weigh 220, and I won't take **** off people, even thought I'm fairly shy, piss me off, you better watch out.
