    What's your yard look like?

Mine's a little...full. Boys need to get to work before shred takes over the whole lot.

I do not spew profanities; I enunciated them clearly, like a f***ing lady.

Mine is quite spacious and very well organized. Weitsman is on top of their game.

I posted pics just the other day in my Day in the Life thread. I didn't know how jealous I would make all of you! LOL

The past two weeks I've been really pissed off at mine. It shouldn't take 1.5 hours to make it through the yard. 15 at the small scale...20 waiting to get paid. That pile is HUGE compared to normal. And you see that tv?! Slipping up and the sellers are starting to gripe.

I haven't heard the name Weitsman'sin a very long time. I grew up near the yard in Owego. I remember seeing Bens expensive cars when we drove by.

Amen! Drop off today, 520 pounds of shred... 11 minutes from pull-in to cash in hand.

    What's your yard look like?

its not uncommon to see the occasional tv or little tyke mostly plasic cars or even lawn mower or farm tractor pulling a small wagon of junk in

its also not uncommon for them to have small fire smoldering with excess fluff

never know what you are going to find at the ole country yard

what you rarely find is a long wait. occasionally have to honk a couple times to get someone's attention though.

and they do have a local wild deer that just hangs around and will let you walk right up to it or it will occasionally just walk up to you

I heard a man get told some choice words tossed a tv in shred . Funny thing was I was being helped and the whole time he was hawking this guy apparently he had ticked them off a few times . I'm one of those remove all non metal OCD weirdos so I haven't had any problems .

Sledge, I have a pic of my local yard (Lewis) that could pass for yours with all the water. This was last year when we were getting crap tons of rain.

And here after they started cleaning up and selling some off.

That piece being put in the shredder is as long as a semi trailer.

Mech: That is what I'm a bit more used too. That is the way Kroots is.. and the smaller yard I head to normally. Don't think I have ever taken pictures at Greensburg (River Metals) but River is on concrete, flawlessly clean.. and THE best operators of equipment in central Indiana. Great place.. but a bit of a hike for me.. Used to go there a lot until I did some of my Time vs $ calcs. I usually have to have a 2+ ton load to make the gas and billable time lost balance out.

I went to a new yard yesterday after calling around about prices and decided it was worth it to split up my non-ferrous load between the two. A MUCH smaller operation than my usual Weitsman's and a lot more low-tech but no waiting at all. Weighed and paid in under 20 minutes. And lots of cool stuff in the office like a scrap sculpture, an antique telephone booth, pictures of classic/exotic cars. I love stuff like that. Had some charm. I'll definitely go back when the prices are right.

Here's the huge line at the yard today
    [IMG][/IMG]
I'll have to get another pic of the steel road, it is an absolute war zone. Don't even want to drive in right now there is so much metal on the road.
