Has Anybody Else Ran Into This?
An ad is posted offering something for pick-up and I reply with my name and phone number so we could talk.
Instead of a call I get an email stating that if you look at the photos( includes a link) of it and still want it "it's yours". I've replied to two of these in the last week and both of their replies ended with those exact words.
The link goes to a blank page with places for 4 photos(all blank) and at top it says "must have Adobe Photo Uploader, click 'here' to install".
The first time I saw this(a week ago) I replied (after googling the uploader to see some problems with it), told them "I'd rather not install this uploader" and asked again if we could talk, but never got a reply. Sort of forgot about it until today, when another ad is posted with the same trip.
This time I googled again and saw no problems, but after looking around to download the uploader directly from Adobe I noticed they don't call their uploader "Adobe Photo Uploader", or maybe I was just in the Photoshop Express section?(which told me these users didn't require any additional uploader) I opened my Photoshop Elements and tried the email link again but all was the same, said I needed Adobe Uploader.
I decided to try the DL to see where it was coming from.... cloudfilers.pw.. a web host(same as the blank photo page was from). The DL box said "save" or "run", I closed it, and an immediate pop-up from my anti-virus says "app blocked" or something similar, to which I clicked "remove".
Anyways, I'm not sure all you smart phone users would encounter the same gimmick as the PC user, but I'm guessing this will be an ongoing scam attempt for awhile
