Theives stealing from cemetary, what a shame.

I know it's nothing new but I saw this on the news tonight and was repulsed. I have several family members buried there. One bad guy in custody and one outstanding I heard. Hope theyh get the max allowed!

Ghoulish grave robbers have looted $160,000 worth of valuable bronze from 65 mausoleums in a historic Bronx cemetery, law-enforcement sources said yesterday. - NYPOST.com

Thieves are among the lowest of the low. At the very bottom of that rung, even below tool thieves, are those who steal from cemeteries and places like war memorials. I'm all for the idea of forced labour at minimum wage for such people until their debt is repaid.

Thats the thing, if people would not buy known stolen items then nobody would take them in the first place (well except hoarders maybe). What realy sucks is some of that stuff is hard or impossible to replace and the people that looted it get pennies on the dollar for it (compared to what it costs to replace anyway).

The max allowed wouldn't be enough for that offence imo

Gravitar that is going to be my new bumper sticker, daily mantra, and prayer, all rolled into one. Hell, I might just have to have it printed on a shirt. LOL.

Sirscrapalot - why is it called a walnut if it doesn't grow on walls?

Here is another one, Massive Plaque Honoring Vets Stolen from Cemetery. The report says that the stolen plaque was a three-quarter-inch thick bronze plate, about three feet by three feet, could have weighed as much as 250 pounds. How do they explain it to the scrapyard?
