    flagging fever on craigslist.org

So, I am guessing I have either ticked off a customer without knowing that I have (never gotten the impression that I did though), or someone on here, close to me really has it in for me.

In the last 3 weeks, my ads have been getting flagged off like crazy, in all the categories that I post ads in. What i don't get and understand, is that I have posted the same way for over 3 years with no issues at all, until very recently. 4 other junk removal companies and I post regularly and we all get business. I know it has something to do with me personally, because none of their ads are being flagged off. Just mine.

The only thing that I have noticed differently, is a new company that started showing up, the same time this flagging fever stuff started.

I am not pointing fingers to anyone on here, but like I said, it has to either be a customer (which I seriously doubt), someone close to me on here in the area, or something.

I just want to publicly say that if the individual is indeed on here, then email me or call me directly 571-210-0642 and let's talk. If I have offended you or anything, lets discuss it, and stop with the childish behavior for real. I am a grown man, and with the exception of a few members on here who are early 20's, everyone on here is.

Thanks for letting me rant...now time to go see how many more have been flagged...smdh

I'm surprised someone has so much time. Everything scrap related is flagged in these parts. The reason I don't even mess with craigslist. I know its economical, but you are really only inviting a certain clientele. The kind of clientele that's looking for cheap services and not pay their bill.

I've also been sent on wild goose chases several times from posts about appliances and what not at the curb. I hit a few within minutes if posting to find nothing there. Craigslist= waste if time.

Flagging seems to come in cycles at least for me.
Soon as I know my ad is flagged I just calmly repost my ad and go about my way they did me a favor with a post bump to the top anyways lol.
Its childish and stupid of them to flag but eh karma sorts it out in the end.

I always thank the people for flagging my ads, because now mine is back on top. The flagging usually stops after that.

It seems like different areas have different standards. If I post an ad in the computer services section for ewaste it gets left alone. If I post an ad in the wanted section it gets flagged. I've seen Buffalo ads for ewaste in the wanted section and they seem to do fine. Go figure.

Edit: Just thought of another thing that can get you flagged. At least in my area, if someone from out of town posts an ad it gets flagged as well.

Flagging by a competitor = insecurity on their part.
I've never met you- but if you are the top dog in your area- then people will come after you.. sad but true!

I might be top dog in the prices that I give and the quality of work that I provide to my clients. But when it comes to everything else, most of my competitors have me beat, which is fine, as long as I make enough to do what I need to do.

I just like to know who they are and what their issue is. I have been flagged in the past, but that is when I was doing FREE metal pick up and posting in the wanted section.

Funny thing is, I have another account for craigslist, and my ads on there, are all green.

That does stink man. I remember when I was trying to sell off my truck, it was nicer, had lower miles and a lower price than one dealer who had a similar truck for sale on CL, My listing ended up getting flagged over and over- I always wondered if it was "dirty play" because I was offering a much nicer truck than his and he didn't want the competition?

When I got started in junk removal, I got flagged and removed almost instantly. I made friends with another guy in the business. Turns out a former employee of his went out on his own. Guy is a computer genius, knows how to flag from multiple (what's the word?) addresses so your ad is taken down instantly. My friend eventually went out of the business because of this.

Stopped posting for a while. When I restarted I was no longer getting flagged. I guess since the object of his affection was out of business he was satisfied.

It was a big problem here in Maine - there was a couple old guys who didn't know much about computers and invested in some "craigslist" software to flag the competition and re-post their ads over and over.. it didn't take to long to figure out who it was because they had the only ads up at night..

Frustrating yes, but like someone mentioned above, I didn't mind my adds re-appearing on the top of the list ^_^

    Now I don't bother much

I dont personally use CL, the only times I have I was inundated with spam and scam artists, what you are describing sounds like an endeavour that is long on irritation and short on return. I know it works for some just not me, not worth the cost of my blood pressure meds.. Good luck to ya.
