Joke

A new guy is locked up in the prison. It happens to be a Saturday and after the evening meal the inmates stayed around for open mic time.

A big burly con gets up and growls into the mic: "57" and the inmates laugh loudly.



Another guy gets up to the mic and says: "102" again, laughter fills the hall.

The new guy leans over to the graybeard con next to him: "What in the world are they laughing at?"

"When you have been in as long as we have, you have heard every joke there is. To save time we numbered them all and now we just say the number" replied the old-timer.

"Can I try?" asked the new fella.

"Sure, just get in line behind the rest of them".

When his turn came the new guy shyly leaned toward the mic and said "17"

The room was dead silent. The new con slouched back to his seat. After a few minutes he turned to the grizzled old con and asked "what went wrong"?

With a glint in his eye the old man said "I guess some people just can't tell a joke"
