You are a day late and dollar short which is unfortunate. A few years ago this would go for several hundred dollars (500+), now there is a very limited market.
The primary market for R-12 was the automotive market. With the switch to 134, this is no longer used. If you had a car with R-12 that needed to be repaired you would now just convert it over to 134 rather than recharge with r-12.
The current market is limited to:
1. Some classic car guys still use R-12 to keep things stock.
2. Old refrigeration/hvac applications.
I would be looking to dump the stuff locally. YOU DO NOT WANT TO TRY TO SHIP REFRIGERANT. I'd put it on CL for 150.00 and take what I could get. Someone will buy it. Keep in mind, it is illegal for you to sell the refrigerant unless you have a license (which I assume you don't if you don't know how to get rid of it) and it is illegal for you to sell the refrigerant to someone without a license. I personally buy refrigerant off CL for my personal use (I do have a license) but it becomes problematic when using it for a business because you need to document the use of refrigerant. You would need to show where it came from. Most business will shy away no matter what the price because of this. This would strike me as a "Walmart parking lot" deal.
While you will see stuff like this sold on ebay, I would strongly caution you NOT to attempt to sell this on ebay and ship it. You would be looking at serious jail time and fines. It's not worth the risk.

Thanks for the replies, I'll look into trying to sell to someone looking to buy. I made a few calls today with no luck.
I'm not sure about Canadian laws, but here in the U.S. you have to have a CFC license to sell it.

If you still have this tank, I would be interested assuming it is original, factory sealed tank. I have the appropriate EPA licenses to deal with it. Please advise status. Thanks.

Did you ever sell the freon There are plenty of recycling outfits that will buy the freon and pay decent if its brand new (virgin)
12-14 years ago a 30# jug of R-12 would've sold for a thousand dollars, that same 30#s would've sold for $60 ten years earlier. R-12 is worth quite a bit less now. The real post-ban money was never about automotive A/C, it was in the refrigeration systems that used R-12 to the tune of hundreds or thousands of pounds per loop. Same thing's happened with R-22. Some of us were fortunate enough to stockpile prior to the manufacturing ban and learned from the R-12 scenario that there is an optimal time to sell the gas. Sell the gas before the equipment that uses this refrigerant is obsolete! Seems that there is a cycle going so I'd guess that 134 will be next and 410a the one after that to make this play on, although that may be a number of years. BTW, if you even consider buying/selling refrigerants, do everyone a favor and get the EPA cert. It's easy to do and it is the law!
