More new yards buying plastic etc.

Up to 4 new places that are buying plastic by me.

#1 plastic bottles are .15 - .40 a pound
#2 plastic .02 - .10 a pound

Other items...
Glass bottles / jars .04 lb
Cardboard .01 - .03 lb
Office paper .02 lb

And these new places are paying .80 - .95 a lb for alum cans! So if I am going to go there anyway with the cans I may as well take the other stuff! It will cover the gas money!

Wow, I hope that catches on. I could probably fill 2-4 gaylords a month with plastic.

The yard I use started taking vynal siding last summer. only a .05 a lb

Local plastic buyer would be nice. There is a cardboard, paper buyer close by have not ventured down the paper road yet.

Hopefully it spreads, anything we can sell is going to put it in a better place than "throwing it away"

If I had a vast amount of warehouse space, and gas weren't pushing $4 per gallon, I would snag cardboard when I'm cruising the streets, but at $20-30 per ton it is just too low-value to justify putting any effort into.

Where are you going to get enough plastic bottles to make enough money to pay for gas. I'm still looking for an "ABS" buyer.

Recently in the news up here was a story about the city's "blue bin" recycling program. Seems the city has collected 12 000 tons or so of glass so far (yes, that's around 24 million lbs of glass) and couldn't find a market for it. So, to keep it from just being buried in the local dumps with the rest of the garbage, they're going to... bury it in the dumps. It's going to be used instead of gravel base to construct dump roads. Sadly, the cost is about 5-6 x what buying the same gravel would cost. And that's just what it cost the city directly via the recycling program. That doesn't include the costs of whatever energy, water, etc. that the city residents used to rinse/wash it first. More government "let's do something completely useless to make us all feel all green and happy and better!" BS.

Keep the plastic water bottles that we use, a full bag flattened weighs 28 lbs @ .40 a pound = $11.20

ive been reading a lot about plastic recycling latley,hobo can you please tell me what general area you live in where the yards buy plastic.if it was a few hours from me it would be feesable for me to start saving it,ive already started saving computer,tv,and printer plastic. ive got access to a 24 foot trailor with 8 foot sides on it.and at 10 to 40 cents a pound i could come out ahead on the whole thing.thank you for your time

If you are a big producer of cardboard, the buyer sometimes provides a baler for you.

wow those cardboard prices r very low .... .6-.8 a pound for cardboard here ...

only know 2 yard in sacramento that even take bales .. the other ones make you come back when it cut ..
