For the occasional cutter, yeah getting insurance might be a pain to such a job but aren't these a good source to find wood that you can sell later on? Or does the wood you sell for fire wood come from your tree removal/trimming service so its side $$ from the main job that you do? Then I can see how the "come and get it 'free' irks you"...

I know a couple of guys that have a tree trimming business. They sell firewood as a by-product of that. They would NEVER cut down a whole tree for someone just for "free" firewood to sell or even to use themselves. And doing these types of jobs without insurance is just crazy if you ask me. WAAAAY too much risk. I worked for a guy that did this when I was in highschool. He overestimated my strength(I was a very scrawny teen, tall, but scrawny) and I was just barely able to stop the
log from going through the roof. All he said was "good thing I have insurance" lol
Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.
