My daughter talked me in to starting to collecting them about five years ago so she could bring them to the childrens hospital in Sioux Falls. A lot of the charities around here accept them as donations and I'm guessing that the reason some people are willing to pay so much for them is just to help out the charities.

Sorry to bust bubbles, but I found this out a couple years ago.

    snopes.com: Pull Tab Redemption Rumor

Some places like the Ronald Mcdonald house an few others take them, but they don't really pay for it, or get a free session, etc.

    Sad I know.

It's like finding out the easter bunny doesn't exist.

PF4; have you sold any of these yet or you just starting to save them up? I don't do the e-bay thing but I would be willing to sell them to you for half price if you want. You could start a thread in the buyers section and just bag them up and ship them out. Send me a PM if your willing to do this.

I don't want to buy them. I collect them for now, and some day I will have enough to do something with them. I haven't sold any yet. Just another one of my collections....

I'm sure someone here would be willing to take that deal though.

Someone who isn't adverse to eBaying should take up Happy's offer, and we can all sell our tabs. We can clean and ship them so they are ready to go for whoever will sell them? Remember, on the crafting thread I made a note that one of the pop tabs sites stated they are out of stock on tabs. I'm sure we could fix that situation.

Here is the link for the Crafting Stuff thread, just to make things easy to find for people wondering what we've discussed over there:

I actually work in store where we also take back bottles and cans, and have been grabbing tabs off cans when i take them for a while now I have a decent little stash along with ones i get from drinking the stuff I do, so really it wouldn't take much time for me to get a worthwhile amount. Thanks for the information.

I think I will put all the colored ones together in a 'rainbow' assortment, instead of sorting each one by color. Or what do you guys think you will do?

Found two new pop tab colors -

One of the Monster drinks has a black tab - the Monster Java

The Bud Light Lime Mango-rita has an orange one (mango colored).

Oh, and Red Bull has rectangular tabs.

Our carbide only recycling facility gets no less than 50 calls a day asking if we buy can tabs ( NO WE DON'T BUY THEM), we also work with about 20 local scrap yards that ALL tell us that this is the thing they get called most about. If you have figured out a way to make money with can tabs put an add on craigslist I guarantee your phone will ring off the hook day and night.

So before shipping it looks like you can get from $.01 to $.05 each for them. Depending on type and color. I get $.0007 for them when I leave them on my cans. I think I will save the color ones as I get them.

so you don't like 1000% profit margin? Minus labor. charge them shipping.

Oh no. Just think you can get more for color ones. Looks like shipping cost would only be $5.80 for a pound of them in a small flat rate box. So if it is 1267 to a pound at .01 would be $12.67 - shipping $5.85 so $6.82! per pound. Now I am going to go out and start pulling all tabs off!!! And if you can get shipping charged to them even better, but most I've seen had free shipping...
