is there anything you specialize in?

like i can easily spot crap bieks from quality bikes, i can easily tell if a bike will take 15min or 15hours to get working again to resell for $50... and know if i could also get it to resell for $500
also im run across aquarium tanks and equipment as welll and can easily spot what will sell well on the CL

so yeah is there any kind of scrap you come across a lot and can turn around for great profits cuase you got a lot of knowledge on it.. certain type of electronics? antiques? car parts? cooking ware?

but yeah, the reason i bring this up was cuase i was dumpster diving and i found a huge stack of bike tires, like 30 of them... quality ones, had to be bout $30-$70 new each one but i was sure they were all gone bad... i inspected them, only a few had sidewall tears and even those could be repaired, most had bout 1-3 months of tread left on them... some even seemed new, wth???

but yeah, is there anything your good at spotting value of?

reusable computer parts. I like tearing apart scrap computers testing the parts and reselling them on ebay.

8 mm home movie projectors. Always get at least 2 or 3 per month. Always work.

Riding mowers are my favorite pick up. Never scrap them anymore.
Sold a horse trailer before too. Lots of things that are still useable i try to keep or resell, even give away to good people.

I don't know if I specialize in them but I do collect old soda coolers from 40's to 60's. I have over 80 in my collection. I started collecting Ewaste after seeing so much of it on my many picks looking for coolers. The truth is, my addiction to Ewaste has surpassed my obsession of hunting for coolers. As for scrapping, I mostly only do computers and servers but can not pass on a hunk of non ferrous when I come across it.

I specialize in everything that makes me money, I build pickup bed trailers when I have time to and love selling parts for cars and pickups or anything else worth more than scrap value

This! Nothing thrills me more than cracking open a tower and finding quality components that I can resell on eBay. As PartTimeScrapper will agree, a $4 tower could easily turn into $100+ worth of parts.

This aspect keeps me scrapping probably more than anything else.

lawn mowers. After I pick up and offload push mowers I can tell with either one glance or one pull if they are worth fixing up and selling. Heck, I've changed personal lawn mowers so many times my hubby doesn't even ask ''where did I get THAT mower from?'' any more!!

I'm thinking I might start to specialize in vacuum cleaners. So far I'm finding them generally an easy fix, lightweight enough for me to handle alone, and easily resellable.

When I need money I "scrap" houses.
( depending on wood type )
Trim starts at $0.15 per foot
Baseboards start at $0.20 per foot
Hard wood floors $0.40 - $250 per board foot
Banisters and attached stairs can start at $300
Interior doors start at $10
Old door handles can go for $80+ each
Windows start at $25
Window weights are highly collectable
Old brass light fixtures are big $$
Old cut foundation stones start at $15 per cubic foot
Cabinets start at $20 each
Claw foot cast iron tubs start at $450
Shower doors start at $35
Bathroom sinks start at $15
Exterior doors start at $70 - with cut glass $120

The specialty here is beer cans. 3500 different cans and growing. Gives me an excuse to drink beer. Send your extras this way. Trading scrap for beer cans. Don't you love it when three business plans come together. The wife does not.
