    Texas scrappers

I just got a call from a media production company stating they were looking at doing a production on Texas scrappers and asked if I would be interested in talking to them. I told him that I was just a single person operation. He then asked if I came across anything unusual in my endevors, and I said not really, then he said he may be calling me back later this afternoon. Has any of the Texas folks gotten one of these calls? I received one (not sure if it was the same company or not) a few months ago, and was surprised to get another call.

I forgot to mention, they stated they are calling due to my Craigslist ad, so I guess they are trolling Craigslist to get potential victims, er, I mean candidates.

Nope I have not...be kinda weird/cool if I did. Don't know if I would take the offer or not....could be kinda cool based on the case.

You can't watch anything on TV anymore that isn't drama... Drama sells..It's everywhere....IE Anything on MTV, cook off shows, house fights, the news, soap operas...everything has competition that leads to drama in some way or another. We don't have cable anymore because we were sick of seeing it everywhere.

Even Gold rush Alaska...How many people would be interested in it if it was just watching machines lift dirt and sift through rocks? Only really interested in how it works people...

But I don't know I don't think I would want to go out and make a Fool of myself or profession on a National Level. and Most Don't know it the first couple of years you don't actually get paid any substancial sum for doing it. At any rate I supplied the Company name and Point of Contact For anyone that is interested in it.

They want to name the Show Texas Metalmen Tell them Jerry From Texas Recyclers gave you the Info
I knew this would be the result. That's why I never returned a call to the producers...Why ruin what I have going and look like a ****ed fool? For Fame and all that? No thanks.

I agree, I really do not think I would want to mess with it. First off, all my scrapping is pretty ordinary and boring, and I pretty much told him so. I have absolutely no desire to "spruce up" my routine for others to get their entertainment from. I watch Top Shot and Goldrush Alaska, and while I like the technical aspects of them, I really do not care for all the "drama". Just show me the equipment, competition and results. I do not need the rest.

Not even a half hour after my post, I got a call from Jeff for Fremantle media wanting to ask me a couple question.. Flat out told him I wouldn't be interested in that.

You could end up rich and famous like those guys from "Deadliest Catch". Some of them actually go on tour and people pay to meet them. Some of those reality shows are, I suspect, heavily scripted to keep the drama going. Some kind of Scrapper vs. Scrapper action maybe.

Does that remind you of Sr. vs Jr. on American Chopper? I've often thought that myself.

Yeah I don't know about these reality TV shows anymore all of them are fake. Heck even house hunters on HGTV is fake. I have had a bunch of buddies and people I have done business with ask me why I never had contacted Mike Rowe and been on Dirty Jobs. The reality is in today's day and age I don't want to be viewed in a negative light at all when all I am trying to do is recycle. I don't need different government agencies breathing down my neck because of what they saw me do on tv. I am sure you all can figure out which two agencies I am talking about without naming them by name. Its not the IRS either. I don't think greenpeace would appreciate me either. Cutting big iron is an art and I also don't want to to give to many pointers to my competition because next thing I know they could be putting me out of work. That's another reason why I haven't done it.
