    Platinum question

Has anyone ever dealt with platinum sensors (PT100/PT1000/etc) or Thermocouple wires?

Is it possible to get platinum from the sensors to sell or thermocouple wires? If so, how do you do it?

I know that platinum sells for a very high price, so I wasn't sure if this was possible, or if this is even the same type of platinum (I assume it is)...

I have access to 100's of these - usually faulty sensors that are replaced.

I'm not sure how to proceed or if I should pass.

What do you think, waste of time - or a gold (or platinum) mine?

Seperating preciuos metals is a task not to be taken lightly. You need to know a lot, and it can be dangerous. That being said, it can be done on a small scale at home, however gold is easier to do still involves all of the chemicals and hazards). You can get some decent money from that scrap by selling to someone who deals in it. Look for the gold refining forum. It is full of everything needed for that and people who may want to buy them. Get a picture of the items. E-bay buyers tend to over pay for this stuff thinking that there is a ton of material in there.

I never thought about the ebay people

I was afraid that this would require chemicals.

    Thanks!
