    Books on Metal Casting

I thought I would start a thread for books related to metal casting.

I'm going to start this thread off with the first book I read on metal casting:

    "The Metal Casters Bible"
    C. W. Ammen

This is what the book looks like:

Here is the link on Amazon with all the info like number of pages, ISBN number, etc

I know it seems expensive, if you look around you can find them cheaper though

At the heart of science is an essential balance between two seemingly contradictory attitudes--an openness to new ideas, no matter how bizarre or counterintuitive they may be, and the most ruthless skeptical scrutiny of all ideas, old and new. This is how deep truths are winnowed from deep nonsense. -- Carl Sagan

You can also smelt and cast precious metals into what is called "Dore' bars"

Doré bar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is often the first step in recovering precious metals. I make Dore' to electrolytically refine certain metals myself. If you have material mostly composed of gold/silver and maybe other platinum group metals, that are at least 90% of the total, you could potentially make more melting into dore' than trying to sell as scrap.

Here is a good book for smelting precious metals:

How to Smelt your Gold & Silver
    Hank Chapman, Jr.

Here is what the book looks like:
