Newish small time scrapper, Hey all

Hey guys,
Pretty new scrapper here. I don't own a truck or trailer and have no room for storage space. I'm a broke college student living in MO and going to school in MN. So far I have been focusing on scrapping broken electronics and cords because of the limited storage space and hauling ability. It's also really easy to find both broken electronics and broken cords and chargers at my college. I go to school full time and I'm applying for part time jobs, so I just do this on the side for now. I've been lurking on the forum for quite a while, but never had a reason to post until now.

Ha, I don't have a truck either. You should see what I scrap with.

I don't know where your from, but you could always look into getting a cheap storage unit...say $30 a month, as long as you make at least that a month in scrap, unit is paid for. Just a thought.

I'm old, you may very well learn more life's lessons while scrapping than you do in 4+ college. Keep it up, dive in them dumpsters you will be surprised what you find. Marketing/selling what you get is the other half of profit. I respect anyone who is willing to work. Best of luck,Mike.

I Scrap out of my Honda Civic and can get fridges, washing machines, and dryers now that i learned how to ratchet strap the trunk properly. then you can fill that and you passenger and back seats. I haul more then some of the f150's around here its pretty funny sight at the scales.

02 honda civic LX ( regular trunk no hatchback) i learn the trick from a guy using a Toyota Camry

Thanks for the encouragement. I drive a Honday civic too and I can't even imagine how you do that.
Since I go to school 11 hours away from where I live, I live in campus apartments while at school. That leaves me no space whatsoever. I'll definitely look into a month by month storage unit, though. Thanks for the tip.

just find a yard close to your college and do it in between your classes, thats what i do at least, college is a joke these days. I am doing better then most the people in my major or graduated over these past 7 years. Then again i run the electronics recycling biz, video editing biz, and still make my runs in the morning before the trash trucks come around. and i still manage to pass my class load and hold a 3.5 gpa :-D Pretty much im just saying that if you got the drive to work and stop thinking that there is a recession going on you'll do fine in life. i use my dads Chevy Equinox. knock the seats down and I have plenty of space...except my "haul" so far is 1oz of ins copper wire. I keep breaking Ethernet cables

try looking for vacuum cords TTS they will make you way happier.

Yeah well I'm taking my first field trip on the weekend with my buddy. We are trying to get some cash for a camera and props for YouTube vids. Hopefully more than that eventually

Some universities have scrap metal lots that they auction off and also furniture and electronics they no longer want. You could probably get stuff just by asking the people who do the computer procurement and who get rid of the stuff that's too damaged to auction. Welcome and good luck.

The young people taking computer courses are all the time rebuilding their own equipment so there might be some old stuff/outdated/blown up parts you can snag there. Make up a few flyers to post around on bulletin boards. Motherboards and cards and parts can be stored in totes, doesn't take up a lot of room.

Haul in more than an F150? Dunemaul, I'm having a hard time with this one.

I recently saw a couple at the yard who had hauled a frig in the trunk of their sedan. I wanted to get a photo but didn't have the camera with me.

How efficient. He could weigh in the shopping cart too, closely followed by the bike. Then he wouldn't have to worry about somebody stealing it as he spent his cash at the bar
