    New guy from Texas

Hello I'm a new member from Texas, between Houston and Galveston area. I was on youtube a couple weeks ago and saw a guy on there melting down all sorts of metal and making bricks and molds out of it. Now I can't quit watching this stuff! I think it's really interesting. So I'm just searching around online to find more information on casing metals and it led me to this site. I figured I'd sign up so I could learn more about casting and what type of equipment is needed ect ect. Seems like it would be a fun hobby. Thanks, and I look forward to learning from y'all.

I have watched a few of those YouTube videos and figured it looked interesting, but the thought that would go through my mind is the cost and time involved for what most ended up with. I would say that most that do it, do it as a hobby and not a money maker.

I have seen a few guys that were casting parts and other useful things. But most was just bricks, ingots and drops and such.

Check out eBay for the many things that people have cast to sell. The BIG money goes to those that have a special talent at it.

    Just some thoughts

Yes I agree. This would just be something to do for fun, not as a money maker.

I have enjoyed the videos of folks pouring molten Al down ant hills. Then they dig out the Al art and sell it. 73, Mike

Hi and welcome to the forum from Las Vegas! It's too hot here most of the time to do forge or furnace work no matter how cool it is to watch. Have fun and looking forward to seeing what you get up to!
