    Hi everyone

Hi all. Ive been scrapping a little bit here an there for a few years but have been getting into it more lately in my off time. One of the schools ive been re doing gave me a bunch of old metal exterior doors to get rid of. I guess my question is other tha. The glass and hardware is there anything else i should know about removing before taking to my local yard. Someone mentioned they may have asbestos in them.

    Google.

many old fire doors built in the 60's, 70's, 80's and possibly some in the 90's contain asbestos.

Asbestos is supposed to be handled by professionals in a specific manner not your local junk guy....shame on that municipality for cutting corners

He mentioned EXTERIOR doors, not FIRE doors. Not a expert, but I don't think that they would contain asbestos. Asbestos is hazardous when particles are in suspension in the air. I would drill a hole in the doors to check what's inside (insulation?) without risking to displace the possible asbestos contents. That way, you'll know what's to do next.

About the glass and the hardware, it should not really matter to most of the yards as long the doors are mostly made of metal.
