Hey fellow Scrappers I'm semi new to scrapping and just joined the forum today

Hey fellow Scrappers I just joined the forum today and I'm somewhat new to scrapping, I scrapped a few years ago and really liked it and I recently decided to get back into it and try to make into a career I'm going to do it as side work till I get enough work to make it full time.

any suggestions or advice on what tools/equipment to buy starting out and how to score the first contracts even if they're small would be most helpful and appreciated.

    TIA,

    mikeinreco ,

Thanks for the welcome , I've been looking through the threads and have learned a good bit so far.
I'm planning to move to south Fl. in a month or two and that's when I plan to officially start scrapping ( mainly because I need to save up $$$$ for a somewhat dependable truck or cargo van and trailer first ) but I'm looking foward to the hard work of scrapping and learning from my fellow scrappers.

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

The best business plan is to start small, and find a niche that works for you. Some people have started scrapping out of the back of a car, much less a trailer. I work in the refurbishment side of E-Waste, so my needs in equipment are totally different from someone who scraps cars, or someone who does refrigerators. Since you have time before you're planning to start, I'd look into all the little areas of scrapping there are, and try to figure out what piece of the pie you want to focus on. That'll help narrow down what equipment you need and what wouldn't help much (For what I do, a car hauler trailer would be almost useless for example), and it'll also help narrow down who you want to talk with about scrapping.

    Thanks for the help Matador,

I definitely have to start out small , I'll explore all the different scrapping options as you suggested.
as of now though I'm liking the idea of scrapping different types of metal and cars.

    thanks again for the advice.
