Hey I'm a new member to this site and well this hobby and some people's line of work. I was just wondering what the best scrap metals are and where to find them. I was also wondering if someone could just briefly go over how they do what they do and give me some tips on scrapping

Welcome to the forum from Las Vegas! I very strongly recommend reading through the Basics sections in each subheading on this forum. Everytime you find something that isn't clear or you want to know more about, use the forum's search function to see if the topic has already been covered. If not then make a new thread with your inquiry or results and others will chime in. You can google Comex for a hierarchy of metals pricing. Those won't be scrap prices but will let you know what metals are more expensive and what ones are less so. You'll find an extraordinary amount of information on this forum if you take the time to search through the threads. Welcome again and happy scrapping

As the others have said .... read through the old threads.
Aside from reading , the best teacher is hands on experience. Dive into something small just yourself started and see how it goes for you.

That is where you make YOUR money. YOU need to find out what is available to you and how to move it.
I work with just about everything, but brass is my go to. I would say I get about a quarter of what I scrap from my work, and the rest I buy from garage sales. You need to keep your eyes open, learn to recognize different metals, and learn how to take things apart and separate the metals correctly.
In my experience, it is better to take things apart as gently as possible. Attacking with a sledge tends to cause injuries, and, if that is your picture, you don't look like you would hold up very well over several sledge hammer induced injuries (no offence). Welcome to the forum.
