I think a few here dabbled in crypto but I doubt like you did.....the big question I have did the crypto venture not work out or just got the itch to get your hands dirty again?

Catalytic converters have never been higher. You could try your hand at that.

I am not filthy rich, that is for sure. I'm not a trader, and that's mainly the reason. I lived off of it for almost a year with not much invested instead of time, so I guess you could say it worked out! It's not over either, and I like the projects I am currently following.

I have also been itching to get out of the office and do this kind of stuff again, I was much happier with my previous line of work I think.

Well ... you were saying that the warehouse was idle for a year after which you shut down. I don't think you were alone in this. A lot of guys went under. We lost a very active buyer here about six months ago. Give him an A for effort and passion but that just wasn't enough. Some of the sellers here got burned on their shipments.

Just my viewpoint ... these don't seem to be good times for most people in the recycling industry.

That might be why there's so little activity here on the board.

The reason my warehouse was idle, was because I had set up my office and miners at home, and was really just working there... I was being lazy closing down the shop. I had more than enough incoming material, and was getting to a point where I had to expand (employees), start refusing a ton of stuff, or shut down. Even if I stopped taking in stuff, I had enough to work on for months. I specialized in e-waste and had a steady supply of material PCs, boards, networking, etc.

I do hear you on it looking tough these days, and I can see how the prices aren't getting people very excited.

    What buyer closed up shop?

Its a resonator from a Subaru. Looks like the “pie plate” Subaru catalytic converter but it’s not.

    Its scrap.

Ah well, np. Still needing to fill my trailer with steel so it's worth the drive. Got this piece from this end all the way to the tail pipe. Thanks!

I looked over his thread to see what he was up to. Him and mudlucky had started working together I think in 2017? Anyway, all I saw was that he was sick, and then more recently people asking if anyone had been paid. There must have been other forum threads regarding this.. and if all of this has happened why is the thread still up without any warnings? Is the forum admin active anymore? Are there any moderators still?

Yep, here in California I might as well be on another planet

Mr. Mudlucky never said anything publicly but the partnership dissolved rather rappidly as far as I know.....the thread should probably be locked/deleted but I say leave it up as I think it does say he is not buying anymore mail-in stuff.....we will never know the full amount of money lost by forum members as I'm sure some didn't come forward.....oh well most start up business fail but to me it would be very hard to fail at scrap.....he stretched himself to thin and couldn't pay the bills
