Looking for a legitimate company to purchase copper wire scrap from

I am new here and did not know about this site until it was too late. I have been on Alibaba.com, Ec21.com and several other websites. The frustrating part is everyone I have ran across so far is a scammer. I have even narrowed my search to only include US sellers and these guys are still scamming people. I need to find a company that will provide me with 10-20 MT every week for a fair price. I have seen everything from $300 per MT to speaking to people in east Asia that want $7,800 per MT. I have found nobody that has been a real seller so far. If anyone can tell me who I need to speak to in order to get material that I pay for, I would appreciate it. I have just started a new business and need clean copper wire for my production.

Ten to twenty metric tons of copper per week is A LOT of friggin copper. I would think you would be competing with copper wire and breaker manufacturers on that scale. Looks like scrap copper would be $2.25 (SCRAP copper price/lb) x 2204(metric ton)= ~$5K x 25 = $125,000/metric ton, per week. You should buy from the $300MT guy.

    and..... He's gone.

Do you have any ideas as to where I could find a reputable seller? That is what I am truly interested in.

Purchase a buyer’s thread. Post what you are looking for and a price you are willing to pay.

You could probably start at a plumbing or electrical supplier. Rolls of copper ground wire or 1/2" copper pipe should be able to be bought at wholesale price. You could also check with scrap yards in your area to see where they send or see if they can get bulk scrap copper delivered to them to sell to you.

Sorry for the "He's gone. You don't know how many times someone has blown through and just left some unbelievable request hoping to lure people into making contact. Good luck.

    What? This isn't free
The $100 shatter all his business plans.
    and now he's gone. LOL
I hope he isn't to tell the truth, so we can see him succeeded.
I bet if he put a thead on here and payed $.30 or .40 cents more per pound he could fill that kind of volume, ya think?

Dunno exactly what you mean by clean copper wire. Do you mean bare bright scrap? Bare bright unused production scrap? Post-chopper/granulator Cu #1 or #2 slivers/pellets? Your best bet is going to be at a major shredder yard that processes lots of wire and basically lock them down as a supplier. Otherwise that quantity is gonna be hard to find weekly. Like toonces said you're gonna be competing with folks from everywhere but Antarctica buying at that quantity.

    ^^^^^^

I would second that ... it's not really clear what the OP is looking for.

In regard to scammers and whatnot ... there might be more to the story. It's well above my pay grade, but from what i understand, traveling scrap brokers customarily act as the facilitator between the scrap yards and the buyer with transactions of this size.

Question is .... will the buyer be able to stand and deliver on his part of the bargain when the time comes ?

It is a proposed startup. More often than not ... these things go sideways within a year or two. It's especially so when someone is diving headlong into something that he really doesn't know all that much about. There's no time for learning. You either know what you're doing and hit the ground running or stumble and fall on your face.

With all due respect ... if you have to ask ?

Maybe it would be better to do the startup on a small scale as proof of concept and patiently build the business over a number of years ?
