Well hello everyone, my name is Ben. First of all thank you to all the frequent posters and scrapping veterans for sharing your hard earned knowledge and experience. I've been reading posts on SMF for a couple months now. Every time I have a question I think is unique I discover someone else has already asked. I kept meaning to sign up when I was going to post a question but now I'm just giving in because I don't know that I'll ever need to. So thank you.
I'm in northern Illinois, just got out of the Navy, still in transition to being a civvie again (love not shaving), and scrapping is more of a hobby that pays me rather than a hobby I have to pay for. Right now I'm doing primarily electrical contractor scraps and TVs, although after watching some Australian guy's YouTube videos I'm on the lookout for microwaves too. Learned the hard way to be more careful with those TV tubes when the stem breaks, ended up with 7 stitches in my leg because I'm an impatient idiot who thinks I can do everything myself...🤦
Thinking about trying to make a little more money and investing a little more time into scrapping and making it a little more than a hobby. But for the time being my time and energy goes first to renovating the house my wife and I just bought and then taking care of my wife who is now in a wheelchair after falling off a ladder during said renovation.
Thanks again for all the shared wisdom, if I ever finally stumble across a problem or question that hasn't already been answered I'll finally get a chance to post! Until then, happy hunting.
