    New West Michigan Scrapper

Hey fellas/gals, been reading this site for a about 6 months. Wow! I can't believe all of the information looming in these threads. What's even more outstanding is amount of courtesy and helpfulness everyone puts forward. I am going to ramble a bit and do some summing up of what I have been up to.

I became unemployed in Oct, and I started to find new ways to generate money for my family. Etsy was the go-to but learned quickly it is too flooded and overpopulated. Ebay, as we all know, is in the same boat. So I began to get creative and start thinking about repurposing and selling although I had no clue where to start.

My girlfriend's grandmother is a hoarder. Not like: I have tons of useful stuff laying on my property and I will restore/repurpose when the time comes. No! She hoards. The property, the attic, basement, and every nook and cranny is jam packed full. Maybe 2,200sqft home? I noticed one day walking around her property she had a pile behind her barn of "useless" junk. I asked to take some home with me, and to my surprise, she said yes. You have to understand this woman hoards everything and everything has a form of sentimental attatchment.. She has 40+ 15×15×15 boxes jam packed with newspapers and magizines. I ended up getting 2 upright floor fans, a Sony portable TV (80's?), a CRT monitor, and DVD player. That's basically what started my new addiction. Since I've done a fridge (safely), a few vacs, few TVs, few monitors, a breaker box from an old home, and random miscellaneous items. Ever since I have been scouring CL and watching the road everywhere I go. It isn't a way to make a living for me yet, but I just love to dismantle ****. Considering, in the offing, starting a business but at this point it is just a pipe dream.

I have roughly 4lbs copper #1, 5lbs #2, 6lbs in low-grade boards, 400lbs shred, 20lbs dirty AL, and 6lbs #2 insulated. I have the property to stash it and that's what I will do until either I generate a heavy flow or my girlfriend nags about it too much.

Keep scrappin' y'all! If it wasn't for this forum I probably would have stripped all my small gauge wire and thought there was actually a hazardous gas inside tube electronics.
