I get the scrap metal gene honest, as the man I'm named after (my grandfather) is known to pull a plastic trash bag out of his pocket at any given black tie event (wedding, corporate Christmas party, Shrine convention gala, etc.) in order to collect the discarded aluminum cans. I'm pretty much a hobby scrap metal enthusiast. I like taking stuff apart to figure out how it works, and then recycling everything at the end. I'm just interested in learning some of the "best practices" that others employ when it comes to separating/organizing, storing, stripping techniques/machines, etc. I enjoy learning new things and strive to be a lifelong learner.

Welcome from the Buffalo Commons to SMF. Many of us here started tearing stuff down to find out how it works. We evolved into scrapping the things we broke down. Now most of us just use a sledge hammer. The common saying here is as kids we used to get into trouble for breaking things and now as adults we get paid for it. Stay with it and read our threads. You will learn a lot and become a regular. Good luck.
Give back more to this world than we take.
