    We all start somewhere

And I am starting at the ground floor.

Hello, everyone. Just a quick hello, before I dive off into the archives of information. As you could probably tell by the thread title, I treading in new water. I learned long ago, that the quickest way to learn a particular subject is to surround yourself with individuals that have the knowledge you seek. Listen to those that live it, instead of reading it from a book or repeating the mistakes others have made. That is how I found this site.

To start off, my day (and sometimes night) job is a network geek for a company in North Texas. Because of my job, I am surrounded by technology that gets "upgraded" on a regular basis. Over the years, I have become more aware of my technology hoarding gene. haha. I have a tendency to save items for future projects, that never seem to happen. At some point, about a year ago, I read a story on scrapping and this changed how I viewed the things around me. I started noticing items people were putting on the curb. I noticed items that my company regularly threw away. And then I used my new found vision and examined the stockpiles of technology around my house. Wow!

Why keep it around collecting dust and consuming space, when it can be scrapped? I have since seen videos and read stories where people have claimed to have made quite a bit of money. I'm sure it's like a lot of things in life. Your level of success is dependent on your knowledge and your level of effort to make it happen. I'm not looking to get rich, but if I can take some trash from a curb or a corner in my garage and turn it into a day at the movies, with my kids, I'm good to go! If it evolves into something more, I'm good with that too.

Anyway... That is my not so quick, "quick" introduction. I'm activating my "knowledge sponge" mode, and heading to the archives. I look forward to learning as much as I can from this forum, and contributing, when I am able.

    Thanks..
    Kenny
