    Introduction from DFW

    Hey everyone!

I have gleaned an enormous amount of knowledge and wisdom by scouring this forum since last year.

I work for a couple companies that both discard a small amount of recyclable waste. One lets me take what I want and this year I have processed about eight tons. It is mostly production defects or customer returns and trade ins. The best part is that the breakdown is reasonable and about 40 percent of it is nonferrous.

The second company sells its scrap to a local guy that pays them about four cents a pound and takes it all in as shred. I convinced them to let me pay the same and the breakdown resulted in about the same ratios. Unfortunately, after about a month, someone decided it was a conflict of interest for an employee to be a service provider as well. So now I just watch the scrap guy and sigh.

I was thinking about offering to buy from the scrap guy, but not sure if the numbers would work out. If he's smart, he's lying about selling as shred and wouldn't sell it anyways.

I'm too busy with work and family to expand beyond the low hanging fruit at work. I do, however, always keep my eyes open.

    Cheers,

    Mike

Welcome from IN! I like Matts idea. Probably even bump it up to .05 if there's any decent amount of nf
Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.
