Rollyrogers33…
It is my email that was created 8-9 years ago after my very first email account was hacked (baseparrothead). Base is a college nickname and of course Jimmy Buffet fan. I had join this site just a month after my son was born. I was working like a dog, watching the baby and then combing the city at night just starting curbco. Before I was walking for miles picking aluminum cans and then graduated to curbco. What a success story!
When I created my account on this forum I was half asleep and had screwed up on the username part. When I had finally realized what I had done. I didn't know how to change it and hoped that I would never have to explain it. I knew I would get pegged with the Roy Rogers jokes or comments.
I can't really remember how I came up with the name. My real name is Rob.
I've been been on a volunteer technical rescue/hazmat team for 14 years and I'm a hazmat technician, on the team my call sign is Sierra-5, so it's haztech5. My "real" job is babysitting incarcerated juvenile drug addicts. I scrap for relaxation and to help make ends meet.
Well mines obvious --i'm in england.
Over 20 years ago as a single father (Daughter now 23!!),Times were hard any money harder to comeby was crime or hard work so this is where my life time with scrap started!
Soon as my daughter was at school i made extra money (Birthdays/christmas and children are a bit costly)On foot at first copper cable/tube/brass and aluminium my metals of choise.
Strip cable after she was in bed the later at night the better (more copper)
Then after finding a realy good childcarer - into full time employment - But by then the bug had bit and i was a hopeless addict to metal!
Now its habit i still can't stop and even after over 20 yrs get a real 'high' out of every find free money and it fits around my day jobs.
British - "my name is Ian and im a scrapaholic" - NO i don't want any help with my addiction - Proud Father/Grandad (They are all recycle educated )and member of the SMF
I've always been a bit hyper. Lot of energy. One of my nicknames as a teen was freak.I give 100% to everything. Once Iam motivated I become the motivator. Some people find this "freakish" but they are usually lazy people. When I started scrapping its the same way. So when I had to come up with a name it was a nobrainer. Fun thread!
Rest of the story, graduated in 1976 from high school at Mt. Rushmore from a school where the mascot was the Patriots. Did not appreciate the New England Patriots until I was invited to a deaf bar in Boston to enjoy a playoff game. Could not communicate in words or sign language, but had a great time. Final nail in the coffin for my screen name.
Devin: My name...
Tha: The word the, but with some fun to it I guess
Scrapper: I am a scrapper
DevinThaScraper.
Not very fun name, but it works :D
Hello, my real name is Michael, my wife calls me Mikey(yea even at 49). Meatez is a nick-name my friend made up when we were kids, so that's what everybody else calls me. Sorry no cool story to add but I love the thread! Thanks for all the post. Meatez
hey,is great to be in this group i love scrap and i have them much.i do sell sell them
i am lionel by name ,a dealer in scraps ever since i graduated this has been mj job
My name is Bill and everyone calls me Mr. Bill. My wife and I worked with preschool kids at church way back when and that is what they called me. It stuck to where the adults (including my older brother) call me that also. Well, there must be no shortage of Mr. Bills around because I could never find it as an available name for any email or forum. So since I also drove bus to get the kids to the church I added that to stand out from the rest.
In the beginning, in a land farrrrrrrr farrrrrrrr away, Cincatucky, wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back in the middle of the last century, there was a beautiful, bouncing, baby boy, born nekid. His momma and daddy named him Gerald. But they never called him that. His daddy called him Jerry. Daddy was from Germany. Momma called him Jury. Momma was from Tennessee. Go figure.
Welllllll as he started to get part growed up and stuff, people just called him bro. Hey bro. What up bro? whatchoodoin bro? Soz, da infamous BroJer was born. Or is that reborn. More like made up. Ok, it's short and it works.
But ... if I ever gets alllllllllll the way growed up and stuff, I still wanna be just like Mec!
The end.
Not anywhere near as interesting... spinroch is a contraction of my first name, last name & my city.
Silly Patriot..a story will still be spun.(ha!)
I'll save my take for the clubhouse, not sure how long it'd last here in the public section. ;)
Sirscrapalot - Spinning tales of the great Spinroch, an some of it might even be truthful.
Let the spinroch tales begin!
Mine didn't start here, but it's here now.
I was watching tv (RCA tv) and had my fingers resting on 987 for some reason...
It was just one of those times when every 'cool' name is taken so you start looking around the room you're in.
My username isn't special...Just my name and month and day of someone's B-Day..
Nebrs13. - where I'm from and. S13 is chasis code for 89-94 Nissan 240sx
Ah, Thanks Sir from pointing out my date mix up. For some reason I always Mix them up alot
Haha you see what I did right there ?

The force is strong with this one.
Sirscrapalot - Amused.
Just wanted to bump this thread to see if anyone else was willing to share.

Nothing too creative here. It's been my nickname since I was younger. I was 6ft tall by 15 and my name is Jon so it just stuck with me and carried over from there.
This was an awesome idea for a thread though. It's kinda cool to see everybody's reasons behind their name
My forum name is simply the name of my company. It was the first idea that came to mind for a screen name, so I went with it. I belong to a few non-metal related forums, and have a different screen name for those. This is the only place I'm SparrowMetals.
Just wanted to see if anyone else out there would share how they came up with their forum name. I personally enjoy the creativity of members and this gives members more insight into who is out there. Please share.
Electronics Wasted :)
Ewasted... with a website name CashForComputerScrap.com, how creative do you think I am :&
I'm in the same corner as Ewasted....
Sawmilleng....unhh, I spent 30 years being a sawmill engineer. I still are one! D'oh!
Jon. Just a boring engineer.
Mine....in memory of my favorite car...a mercury sable. Bought at a great price, never had an issue with it, lots of room for a growing family, many happy vacation trips, almost 200k miles before it finally died....didn't know about scrapping back then, donated to the kidney foundation.
umm...it is the name of my company that I do electronic recycling and other things under. :)
Well I like having solutions to problems.
From Crap To Scrap - I want to be the one called first to solve a problem.
It's what's on my business cards so I guess it'll stay for a while...
Well, I first used Flint Hills in conjunction with my antique business, Flint Hills Finds, "If you want it, I'll find it" and of course most all Kansan's are familiar with the Flint Hills which run through the state and are the place of my residence. If you want to see flat, I'd like to suggest Florida. Just because Palm trees grow like weeds and you can't see the horizon doesn't mean it isn't FLAT, as in ______________________________
my granddaughter was my little scrapper till she was 4 when she told me pawpaw u don't play enough and you don't pay enough. and she was going to slow down on scrap work
wish I had a video of my little scrapper today we came across a move out on the way home from town , boy she was scraping with a lot of excitement. pawpaw why these people throw all this stuff away. I told her I guess they moved and didn't want it anymore, and that one mans junk was anothers treasures
she said well pawpaw there sure is a lot of treasures here, cant wait till she comes back over so we can go through our finds. im just going to unload and wait for her help. it was fun watching her check out the bags and try to get them to the truck
I couldn't believe trashpicker was available when I submitted it! I get about half of my scrap from the side of the road. I only actually drive my own neighborhood on the day before trash pick up. Otherwise I try not to make any special trips, but I always keep my eyes open.
The other half or more comes out of my business. We provide maintenance of rental properties and some kitchen and bath remodeling.
It's incredible how much stuff you can come up with by just passing attention. I get about $5k per year average.
Well my name is Marc... I like mechanic668 carried over my CB handle. My first car was a blue 68 chevy malibu. I tried to come up with a catchy handle for some time and then while hanging out around a fire someone called my car Ole Blue. My handle had been presented to me. Again by intervention for some reason when I left the car and was hanging out everyone refered to me a Blue. The 414 part comes from "skip" talking as well. My plate numbers on the car were 414 so, it only felt right to keep it all together. This post was a great Ideal. It's kinda nice to get a little story outta the names I see on a regular basis and even the ones I dont. Hope you all have frequent and multiple scrapgasims in the future.
A man who enjoys his work has never worked a day in his life.
tpd stand for my initials and 139 stands for my address. nice and simple and i used it for all my accounts
