    Small scrapper in Philadelphia suburbs

I do a lot of computer work and have access to lots of old computers.

I currently test and repair anything worth while and sell the PC on Ebay. Every thing else I break down and separated into to boxes and possibly use to fix other computers. Hard drives get tested and wiped with DBAN if possible. Bad drives get broken down and I put magnets and platters in the same box hopefully helping to wipe the platters.

Once I fill a box of something I sell it on ebay. I would really like to get away from the fees of ebay and paypal though. I just started looking into local places and people on here. One of my problems is I do not have a truck so all the scrap computer cases I have are difficult to get rid of.

I am hoping to learn better ways to make a profit on here.

Welcome from Florida. I'm also a computer repair junkie. I don't really make a profit yet on scrapping, I just do it for the fun of breaking things open.

Whenever I turn in a load of scrap, I usually put in a few cases or steel items in my trunk as well as some of the money making items (copper, AU). I have a small car and no truck.

I know one person with a truck and we have not had luck being available at the same time while the yard is open.

PB 15, you might write up an ad for CraigsList stating that you will trade XX lbs. of steel computer cases for old/dead computer parts, might be a way to get rid of your excess cases and generate some extra money.

Also check out some of our buyers and their good prices on smaller parts.
