    New scrapper in IL/IA

My name is Brandon and i live on the border of IL/IA, I've only been scrapping for 2 months part time and i love it. I would do it full time but i have one of those "real jobs" for now. Thinking about going full time so I am reading as much as i can on this forum and learning a lot. I have my half ton truck, 14 ft flat bed and i own 14 acres. Thanks for all the useful info. Any tips or advise is appreciated.

Hello and welcome from Denver...Keep reading, not only is it cheap entertainment but you will learn to maximize your $$ in the material you get. Oh and this is the best "fake job" I've ever had.

    Hello and welcome.

Before making the plunge to full time consider:
    - There is no health coverage (unless you purchase it yourself)
    - There is no retirement fund (unless you set it aside yourself)*
    - There is no vacation pay
    - There are no personal days

    * Note: You could wind up losing some or all of your current retirement pension, if you currently have a plan in place with your current employer. Depends on how it's set up and how long you go without making a contribution to it.

Not trying to be Mr. Negative, but these are some things you have to consider before making the plunge from holding a job to going self-employed. Yeah, it was an easier decision for me because I was already unemployed at the time, and at an age where it's tough to compete in the job-seeking market.

Wow B, you are primed and set to scrap big time. All you need is some business cards and start making some contacts, and watch the cash role in. Welcome and keep reading and learning.
