Hello Everyone! I already cant get enough of this place-
I would consider myself an advanced "scrapper" but I have already learned a few things since I have joined!
I will start out with a little about me.
I started breaking down computers about a year and a half ago. I Partnered up with a neighbor this past December who was doing the same..both of us have full time jobs, and considered this a fun hobby.
I have a cousin who owns a thin client company, and found out there were companies that were going to charge him $900 to pick up 100 satellite computers that were worth nothing to him.
Our company was born. (DD Electronics.) we started advertising on craigslist, and started flyer bombed companies all around our city (Rochester Hills, MI.)
Free Pick up! Hard drive destruction! We took off.
Put up a website (Which I apparently am not allowed to post yet.. if you want to see it, type ddelectronics in your search bar and its .net)
We are still a 3 garage operation, but will be in a warehouse by June 2013.
We get about 15-20 phone calls per week from both residences, and businesses needing us to pick up their computers. We turn close to 150 computers a week.
Some of our best scores: School district (9 schools) all computers were upgraded and the old ones needed to go away. (4 trips in an extended cargo van, and done!)
Manufacturing plants: 200-300 computers at a time, 150-200 laptops at a time
We have gotten so busy we are considering hiring a 3rd.
My new venture: Brokering. Several scrap yards around town, and out of state.. have expressed some interest in our materials. So I thought.. Why not send our stuff where they send it?? Started making phone calls, and doing A LOT of research, and turns out.. Everyone needs help selling their e-scrap! Inventory Pros llc was born.
I now have contacts all over the US, price lists weekly, and apparently an unlimited supply.
REMEMBER: I started 15 months ago. And only got serious in December. IT CAN BE DONE!
Anyways, I had to get all the bragging out now, Im just so proud of what we have accomplished so far- And thought Id share a positive success story.
