Hey, everyone. It's Breakage. So I had a thought: What if I signed on as a buyer, for the expressed purpose of acting as a principal broker for NE e-waste dismantlers/scrappers? In particular, my stated market is buying from LTL and parcel-scale scrappers who are otherwise negatively impacted by shipping fees getting to Midwest buyers. I would probably not buy for the same rates as the more popular SMF buyers but the idea is that the cost-savings achieved by shipping within one or two postal zones would offset or even beat the rates of self-shipping direct to buyers halfway across the US. And since I would likely use an SMF buyer for my accumulated material, they would be getting volume that they might not otherwise receive from the more distant scrappers. In theory, it's a win-win-win. The question I have is whether or not this is feasible and/or a desired service for people from Maine, NH, Massachusetts, et al.. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has ever had this notion but it does seem like the northeast doesn't have a reputable, steady, full-service e-waste buyer closer than Ohio who can offer any advantage to UPS Ground and postal shipping customers. I have my logistics in place; the thing I lack is volume on my end to make everything pan out for all parties. I don't mean to sound like a salesman but I am looking to know: Is this something people want and would support? Or is this kind of a bad idea?
