Starting and Running an Honest business.

Well, Today I came across a really big find (It was for me anyway as I am just starting out) 5 filing cabinets large, 2 more huge filing cabinets. Metal shelving, desks, wires, computers, cases, old monitors, a stove and a washer...some other misc car parts. It was a used car dealership a friend of mine used to own.. or his parents did...

They went out of business and now the place is abandoned in the middle of town...the fence was knocked over for some reason ( i noticed the other day but paid no mind to it)
Well today I was driving by again and decided to check it out.. and my my at what I found. I imagine its 50$ worth of metal or more. However...I could not take it..something did not feel right..the place has been abandoned for years...but it did not feel right still..

So I plan on calling around to see who owns the building and if I may offer services of cleaning up the area for free from trash so that potential buyers wont be hassled with it and the area will be clean. When you are fighting to make a living to survive you cannot help but want to just rip everything I saw from the shelves and walls and scrap it all thinking its abandoned gold but...I think I should do this the right way cause it will pay off.

Question is...is this a good way to attract said owners attention? I think its a Realtor company but am not sure.

I did not knock the fence down haha, but I did think about that... I have no vehicle damage indicating i hit something.

I am going to get with the Realtor and inquire about cleaning the place for a small fee and disposing of the trash. I plan on creating a work order for this that the police will have full access to to show all is legit. I REALLY want this metal though..It must be 1000 pounds of stuff.

That is more than $50 worth, unless the price of scrap there is extremely low.

I always aim small to miss small.

In other words..I do not give my hopes up easily any longer...I know it may be more but it is a safe bet to just say 50$ cause I know at LEAST thats there...and if I make more well hey thats just an added bonus..

I do not wish to be like the ladies and gents you hear about that think every piece of metal they find is gold bullion.

I also try to under estimate my load. No high hope= no disappointment. Good luck getting the job.

Honesty is the best policy, that's what my pappy always told me. It didn't feel right loading up then and there because it wasn't right, it would have been stealing. Besides I'm sure the company that owns the property have others that could be cleaned out, or will have eventually. So by doing this job the honesty way you may be settin your self up for more work than you could handle in the future. Good luck!

Thanks for looking that up. Went from deleting the signature to deleting all his posts and banning a spammer.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Spammers find their way to this forum and proceed to grab random parts of previous posts and post as their own. Hence the "deja vu".

Mick (or another mod) drops the hammer on said spammer, removing their post(s). That's why parts of a thread is missing and can be confusing at times.

No, I know you're not, junkernaut. fiasco135 grabbed one of your posts and used it to spam the board. It happens fairly often. I get the impression I've read that before but don't know where. Then I'll sometimes just delete the post as a "suggestion". But if I know for sure the post was duplicated....
