    help, need a new partner!

my partner (wife) is getting flakey on me, ( charging me $40 in fuel cost to go 120 miles in a cat that gets 37 + mpg etc. as most wives she has learned to suck every penney out. sooooo. time for a change, (and maybe a divorce after 28 years.

any way I digress. here is the deal, I have the property, the tools and most of the contacts and know how, what I need is some one with (prefereably) a truck and trailer who wants to learn the scrap business. we take out expenses and split 50/50 I losst at least 2 loads this week because my "partner" didn't have the time, too busy playing World of war craft.

I am in the emerald coats area, 30 miles N of panama city Fl. and 60 miles strait west of Tallahasse, 60 miles south of Dothan Al.

Hire someone an use there truck. I have done that. Pay for the fuel + there time an toss alittle for the truck. You will get someone to jump on that.

I would not make the a partner unless you knew them to be a good/hard worker.....never good to have a partner who sits on there butt.

Olddude, if I were 20 or 30 yrs younger and "unencumbered", I'd take you up on that in a heartbeat. That's a great offer for someone just starting out in the biz. You talked about a divorce 6 mos ago and now it's come up again. I hope ya'll can work it out so that it's "nourishing" for you again or split for the sake of your health and your peace of mind. I wish you the best in finding a partner who really wants to be a TRUE business partner. I'm sure you'll have a lot of immature "takers" who will apply, but you'll see right through them. Good luck.

When I first started my const biz I had a partner but dumped him after the first year and have been solo ever since. I tried to tell my son that earlier this year but he had to give it a go before he figured it out.

    Hey olddude,

I tried to send you a PM but your box is full. We should talk or at least share stories. Maybe over a virutal cold one, some time.

You might try describing what you need for an "employee" with just a phone # to start on an index card, and put it up at the scale or cashiers window at the yard you frequent. You'll get a ton of calls, but if your a good judge of character you'll be able to weed out the B.S. artists. If you get someone you can really trust then make them a partner.
