Scrapping for me has become a full time job since I can't hold an actual job due to an on the job injury Wal-Mart pushed under the rug(long story). That's one of a few reasons why I do E-scrap and nothing else. NY's policy on metal handling is another. I enjoy it and it makes me feel good.

This is used for a part time gig. I am currently full time at a PetSmart distribution center here in Illinois. I work in the fish department. Others side money makers I do on the side involve selling Sports Cards, Older toys, and Video games that I run across for cheap and try to flip for profit to collectors.

It's just what I do when I can't get no lovin'
It's just what I do when I can't get no lovin'
I'm the scrappinest man you ever saw
'Cause lately I ain't gettin' no lovin' at all

I work on a garbage truck, install garage doors, work on a farm, and scrap.

I get a helpful amount of scrap from the garbage truck, and have gotten a couple scrap jobs from it.

I don't curbco on purpose anymore, but I slam the breaks if I see something on my way somewhere. I used to run the spring and fall cleanup routes, but my part time jobs get in the way, and 11 months of income out weigh the 1 month of curbco mania. I miss it though.

The farmer scraps big stuff, but will give me small stuff sometimes, or something big to me/small to him that is in his way and not worth his time to make a special trip.

I help the door installer sort his scrap(on the clock) and I get some of the random scrap. random scrap and door panels don't mix well in a trailer.

I also surf craigslist, have built up some contacts, and buy ewaste when I can.
Currently looking for a job in or related to scrap/recycling. Relocation is possible for the right offer.

Retired educator and started a farm restoration/scrap metal business. 50% of the time is spent with scrap metal and 40% of the time is spent hunting, fishing, training horses and dogs, and sleeping. The other 10% is spent drinking beer. 5% of the time is spent on vacation, yes another over achiever. Truth is every minute is vacation, but their are two problems with this lifestyle. You do not look forward to weekends and you have to still sleep with the boss after a fight. Total freedom is only limited by the wife.

I'm self employed. I own a computer sales and service shop, so E-Waste ties in pretty nicely.

I also work on the family farm, and will be doing more of that in the next few years. There's something about sitting in a tractor all day that seems peaceful.

This isn't my video. This man is on a White 120 tractor. It's basically a newer version of our 2-105.

I took a video while plowing last month, but the quality was awful. That's what you get when your equipment came in as E-Waste

Farming is something you do because you love it, not for the money. There's nothing in the world like it.

I help family move stuff out of basements. Too tired to rant, after hearing them rant about the neighbors.

I just got through reading this whole thread and I'm amazed and the diverse group of people we have here.
I've been installing and working on telephone and computer systems full time since 1984. I've scrapped copper wire for the same amount of time and started scrapping old phone and computer systems about 3 years ago. The best part of my job is the contacts I've made over the last 30 years. They call me when they have a load for me and will hold it until I'm in the area. Something else I like about my job is that after I install their new phone system I usually get to keep their old system.

Commercial roofing is my primary area of employment. Scrap metal is as much a hobby as it is a side job. My wife does some estate sales and I assist with that. I also metal detect when I have time.

This is what I do when I'm not scrapping. It's not nearly as glamorous as it looks. I'm just a monkey with a camera.

Note #1: I'm the short fat guy.

Note#2: See the bears fishing with us in pic #2? Not to proud to say I had to change my diaper by the end of the day.

That's cool Pjost...I'm sure some days can be never ending but looks like fun none the less. My BIL is a Photog for a local news station and has seen his share of the good, bad and the ugly.
