I think if you go in there and say something along the lines of "I want to buy 20 tons for $X/ton, by next week. Here is my business card, and here is a paper detailing my offer. Is that something you are interested in?".... They may be more receptive. On that paper you can say when you want it by, how many tons you want, what price per ton you can pay, etc, etc.

Another thing that may be interesting to them is to offer the money upfront if they are worried about getting paid.... of course youd want to get a solid signed contract before turning over the money, but that would at least show you have the funds and are serious.
Thanks KSS for putting me on some right direction. I will definitely try that, one last question about offer, for example if they are buying an item 0.15 per pound (listed on website) how much should I pay so it looks reasonable ? I don't want to offer too high or too low . Thanks again

Set your margin by your sales price minus your costs. So how much is a 43000lb load in a container going to cost you to ship from the DMV to Pakistan? What price is your brother buying it at? If the container is going to cost $3000 to ship? That means for a full 43000lb container load it's going to cost you $.07/lb just for the sea freight. So if you can buy that $.15/lb for $.22/lb, you'll need to sell it for .29/lb at least just to cover the sea freight (which varies in price). You make an offer based upon your sales price minus costs. Really if you're gonna be buying and selling anything you should know that already.

I'm a bit old fashioned in that business relationships are everything. These take time to develop because it involves trust building. It only takes a handshake between two honorable men to do good business because their word is their bond.

Maybe it's poor advise in this day and age of legal contracts.

It seems to me that the barrier you are trying to break through would be that first transaction. Do that one thing and successive deals might become easier to accomplish.

Maybe set your sights low on that first deal just to break the seal ?

I was contacting scrap yard dealers from last few months but with no luck, everyone says they don't sell scrap. my question is how can I buy scrap from USA and export it to Pakistan
and what kind of licenses do I need.

    Thanks in advance

    RafShaf
Personally I would not get near that deal before researching current.

With the worlds largest ship breaking yard located in Pakestan, I would think you would be looking to export rather than import.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gadani_ship-breaking_yard

Gadani ship-breaking yard is the world's third largest ship breaking yard located across a 10 km (6.2 mi) long beachfront at Gadani, Pakistan.
