Big news!

Hey all! So in a pretty short period of time, will be opening a collection site in Las Vegas to receive e-waste, the only dedicated facility in the whole valley (three others accept but do not buy, two others buy but at prices low enough that I buy from them and sell to buyers here). Got the business license already and are currently able to buy in quantity. Will still be quite a long ways from establishing a buyers thread competitive with the many of the buyers on this forum (except for low-grade and power boards we can shred and recover locally) but will post a buying thread soon that might be useful for folks closer to Las Vegas with mid- and low-value boards or insufficient quantities to ship across the country as well as for non-member browsers of the site. So...yeah! Keep your eyes peeled and will let you know how it goes. Will then also start an ongoing thread in the Scrap Room that lays out the processes and any bumps in the road for others to avoid my mistakes lol!

LOL we don't yet have money for showgirls or goats. With a little luck in the short term we'll have money for some showgoats!

Thank you everybody for the kind words. It's a pretty exciting time here! Posted a more detailed update in the Scrap Room but here is a little update. Our space as first opened looked like this a week ago:



The one gaylord came from a supermarket and the mobile workstation in the middle is on a sturdy cart I kept after scrapping an alignment machine a few months back (details in the old threads). And here we are about a week later:



In the middle of processing a load during this photo hence a little congestion at the front. Current gaylords are for: Power/low-grade boards, backplane, CD/DVD/BR, small socket mobo, large socket mobo, telecom (mixed), mid-grade (mixed), fingercards and empty pallets for PSUs and batteries (PSUs and low-grade/power we'll send to a local shredder).

And here is the big news from today!!!



Got it from a local yard that does about 0 e-waste business for, relatively speaking, a song! Once we get it calibrated in the next couple of days will begin public buying from the storefront!

I second this concern. In VT, Weights & Measures is a department of Agency of Agriculture. I don't know the overseeing body in NV but the fines for missing this detail on my end are pretty rough.
