Wow.. Someone Flagged my "Wanted Ad" on CL

Here is a first for me. Got an email stating my ad in the Wanted section of CL was flagged and removed.
Normal Ad.. Offering to buy e-waste.

Love how CL doesn't tell you why they removed it!! All seem to adhere to the TOU.

Maybe someone in my area is scared I'll clean up!
No worries.. apparently some people have to play dirty to win! If ya got to cheat to beat me.. I'll find plenty of other ways to win!

    I'll adapt and overcome!
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!

    Just repost it

There was a week a couple years ago that someone would flag my ad and have it removed within 10 MIN's
I had spare time one day so I was reposting as fast as they were flagging

    Cut & Paste >> A Beautiful thing!

I did just that! Not doing anything wrong in the ad. Think someone out there is just a wuss and can't handle competition!

Yeah it's daily for me as well , my competition has over 2k a month in overhead so I guess they don't want me to get anything . Just wait till they start bashing you in their ads and then calling to see what you've got . It's funny how dumb people think we are . I'm not a genius by any stretch . But I can put 2 and 2 together . Hope you blow them out of the water !

    Nice John!
Metal: Yup.. The honest, hard working man will prevail!
I got better things to do with my time than be a pansie and flag peoples ads. I figure "who cares if someone calls me over you or vice versa" Plenty of fish to shoot in the bucket.. only makes them look as pathetic as they really are!

I tell people all the time "If you and I go head to head and play fair.. I'll win every time!"

    Idaho.. True
I'm not sure why when people post "Will pay cash for video games" or "We BUY Your Extra Test Strips!" they aren't getting flagged.
    Same type deal right?

I would consider that the same, yes. And it very well could be competitors that's flagging you.

People get worked up if an ad seems commercial in nature. I see people on CL ranting about it ever so often. Not saying your ad does, but maybe revise it? I don't know. Or lay low for a day or 2 and repost.

Caveman said it better than I could.

I myself don't care what or where you post, but technically you're offering a service.

    https://www.craigslist.org/about/help/services

I have posted in the general and services. Don't recall getting flagged under services, but I also don't think it gets much traffic.

That was my philosophy too! Heck anytime I have something I want to sell.. the first place I go is the "Wanted" section and search for it. Maybe some dude put up an ad looking for a pair of recovery hooks off a Blazer.. and then ding.. Find one and give the guy a call.

....to buy and sell and make money on as a small business. Craigslist isn't for businesses. It is for individuals doing something, usually one time. If you owned an 1984 Buick and wanted a front bumper for it, then that would be an ad for the wanted section on Craigslist. If you just want cars to turn for profit then you need to post in a different section, or a different web site.

This gets sooooooooooooooooooooo abused that I think many don't even realize it. Craigslist is for Joe Homeowner to sell his old grill, not for John Small Business to sell his refurbished grills each week (at least not in the 'normal' sections, and not without the 'dealer' option if there.)

Sorry Caveman. but that's just not true. Anyone can post on CL , small business or not. Please show me in the CL TOS or anywhere else that prohibits this. I have about 15 postings every week for sale and wanted. I put e waste in the wanted sections all the time. For a while when i was offering 3 per machine some clown was flagging me ( I guess he did not like the competition. So i just kept reposting. No big deal. Around here ( New York City Area) there are businesses small and large that post on a regular basis.

Do you work for Craigslist? Because I don't see anywhere on their site that it says it's only for homeowners to use an not businesses. The site is for everyone. Let me quote them for you, from their FAQ in the About section..

Q: What can I find there?
A: Jobs, housing, goods, services, romance, local activities, advice - just about anything really.

    Q: What is craigslist?
A: Local classifieds and forums - community moderated, and largely free.

I see no mention anywhere on their about page, that it's only for joe homeowner. There is a reason your allowed to post Services, Buy/sell etc as either a DEALER or Private Seller. You can buy from the wanted section all you want as a business. Now if your putting up a offer to buy in the free section your doing something wrong. Or posting your services in the pet side...an your not a pet business.

I really want to know where you pulled this info, cause again..nothing on their site says anything like your post. I seriously doubt CL cares who posts there long as it's not illegal, or violate their ToS. They are a for profit business an are in this to make money. I'd really like to know where you pulled the info, once again. Cause it's nowhere on their page.

Just in case others would like to learn more about CL.

    https://www.craigslist.org/about/terms.of.use

    https://www.craigslist.org/about/factsheet

The only restriction I see anywhere on a business is that to post your "services" must be in the service section.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, but unless your name is Jim Buckmaster(ceo of CL since 2000) I'll continue to use their site as THEY intended, until they say otherwise.

Q: How many classified ads does craigslist receive?
A: craigslist users post well over 80 million classified ads each month (including reposts and renewals)

Cause those 80 million people are all one time posting, an not businesses or business related in any way.

Craigslist was designed to be a mostly free *their words* classified site to help people get their items, services, etc moved without relying on others. That is from their own site.

Till someone posts something from CL officially stating businesses an people who use it multiple times over time are not wanted I don't buy it.

An it seems to avoid being flagged one should have a paid ad. I think those only go for jobs an car buyers tho. Not your run of the mill postings. You can find more info on that on their help page.

More info on CL : Craigslist - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sirscrapalot - One of many who has misused CL for the last 15 years...go figure.
