    Ford's 2015 aluminium 150

The 2015 truck will be the first mass produced alu vehicle.
will it have an effect on the ALU and steel market?

In my opinion what ever effect it will have for the near future has already happened.
    1. they are already in production so, contracts for metal have already been made.

    2. the "AL" is an alloy not pure AL.

    3. this may open a new market for that metal.

    Future effects.

Un sure. Our "illustrious" leader has seen fit to demand (executive orders) unreasonable mileage requirements for the future. We will see those little toy trucks found in third world countries before long. In fact before long, in my opinion, we will be a third world country.

I don't think the new truck will be an immediate hit but, this will be the near future out of necessity, and in 3 or 4 years Ido see a big effect on the market when all the manufacturers are forced to this alloy by mileage requirements. just my .02

When you consider these “toy trucks” that are used in other countries have great gas mileage and great reliability, I don’t see that being an issue. I’d rather pay up front for a more fuel-efficient work truck that will save big bucks in the long run.

We Americans like our big-azz beefy trucks and SUVs but we really can’t sustain that too much longer. We need to stand up to big oil and tell them we’re not going to be forced to drive gas guzzlers anymore.

Gasoline never should have become the standard for fuel in vehicles. For a little while, in the early 1900s, electric vehicles were more numerous than gas-powered ones. But the oil trusts and oil lobbyists put a stop to all of that

I personally can’t wait for Volkswagen to bring their TDI pickup, the Amarok to The States (it’s inevitable…people are starting to see the benefits of TDI/clean diesel). And, Mr. Elon Musk, please please please give us a Tesla pickup before you pack up and head to Mars!

My post was more about the effects on the metals market, the other post was on the truck.
