what do I have?

Thanks in advance for any tips! I bought at auction what I thought was stainless steel tube, but it was heavier. So I shot it with a metal gun and its 62 percent copper, and 28 percent nickel. What is it worth, and who should I sell it to? I'm in Tampa Florida. It weighs 109 lbs

Its not brass, its coppernickel, ive been offered #2 copper price for it just wanted to know if its worth more

Maybe post a pic of it. Might help folks give you ideas of it's use an value. We just had that happen with some metal in a recent thread.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it? I don't know what yard said they would pay #2 copper price but TMR is paying 2.50# for #2cu that comes out to over 270.00

Sounds like you have an alloy of cupronickel...what is the missing 10% made up of?

I understand that Nickel is also pretty pricey--maybe better than copper. Since you know what you have you are best to phone around to the scrap yards around you to see if you can get someone who deals in cupronickel offer you better than #2 copper.

If you have time, you could try selling it as what it is. Sounds like it works well around seawater. Craigslist, Kijiji, or the like.
