    Rainy Day in WI

Although it rained and was pretty crappy weather today here, it didn't stop me from getting a very nice load of scrap. Couple fridges, handful of microwaves, server, 3 computers, 2 washers, 2 dishwashers, quite a bit of tin, air conditioners, satellite boxes and vcrs. Not to mention a few TV's and monitors. Hopefully can post pictures of my load for Monday. Still have lots to get from my township account, mostly TV's though.

Great haul but are you the Jolly Green Giant? "HANDFUL" of microwaves?
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

I can relate to the wind. My sandbar gets gusty during the winter.

I'll stay on my sandbar, I visited Chicago a couple times in the winter. Ya'll can keep your snow an wind, I'm good with just wind.

Just got my lights back on from that big line of storms that went thru. Quite a few tornadoes in Illinois and central Ind. We dodged a bullet again.

Glad ya ok Mech, an hope all the rest also in the clear. We've been blessed this year on the sandbar, no hurricanes. First time in 5 years being down here we've not had one.

Guess next year is gonna be a dooozy.

Sirscrapalot - Will take hurricanes over tornado's any day. Hurricanes at lest I know where their going to hit.

When I hauled it home, the TV got soaked. I have it in my basement drying out for a few days. Not sure if it works or not. I see the screen has some minor scratches on it, but for a free TV...

I hear ya buddy. Not sure if it's the same with the flat screen's but with the old tube tvs, those suckers could get rained on a couple times an still fire up. Don't ask how I found out.

Nice weather here... and such a nice load I had to pile what I could fit onto my truck & post the rest on CL for (hopefully) a few points on my karma balance.

Was running late today and didn't have time to get pictures of the load I took in. It was 1800# though. Had about $50 in that load for gas and got about $150, and that is without any of the TV's or smaller electronics broke down yet. Just my tin/sheet iron.

My town has alot of scrappers in the area. Some of them are giving legit guys like me a bad rap. Where I worked before I started scrapping we would have lots of peoples decorations that are out in their yard stolen for scrap. I had a 30 foot aluminum TV antenna that someone ripped out of the ground and took. Another guy tried to run me off the road the other night when I was taking my mother shopping. It was my garbage day and the guy was making his rounds in my neighborhood. Because of the others in my area, I won't go out on garbage nights and grab things thrown out. I get all my scrap through word of mouth or CL.

We got your rain this morning so had to wait to finish the load I started yesterday. Finally broke about 11:00 so finished loading and hauled it in. Last load for the year - temps drop 30 degrees tomorrow & snow/sleet this weekend. 1400 lbs - $155/ton.

Those kind of people suck Abshere. Sadly their becoming more the norm. Which is just bad for all of us.

With that being said, I have a camera system that watches my garage and one outside that watches my truck and the trailer when I have it loaded. At least if they steal the stuff from me, they will go down for theft. I won't leave anything sit outside the house very long. With working odd hours most of the time, I just give my address and have people drop stuff off in front of the garage door. Sucks that I can't leave some items outside without having to worry about them disappearing. My step dad had someone take his wallet and all the change out of his van while it was parked in the driveway in the middle of the day.
