Most yard workers feel like slaves and figure the owners are making enough money so who cares if they take a few lbs of brass or copper here or there. I fired a guy this year for stealing. I was wondering why some days it looked like he was leaning to left walking out with his lunchbox. The guy was a POS and he wonders why I denied his unemployment. The better question is how do you get fired and still get to file for unemployment? At least me and the lady from unemployment got a good chuckle out of his claim.

People in this country are being spoon fed the notion that if you work hard and create your own sucessful business, then you are a rich, greedy pig. Easy to see how the dregs of society take that to mean its ok to steal from them because they have "so much" and earned it off the sweat of others. We live in an entitlement society where its ok to take from someone that has more than you even if you didnt earn it.

BEcause filing for unemployment is like filing a lawsuit. Anyone can do it for any reason. Will you win your case or not? Now there is the question.

I would have pressed charges. You might not win your case but the police would have a record of the guy. Just getting fired won't stop him from stealing again but he got arested he might think twice before doing it again. just my .02

I never actually caught him. I just came back from being gone for a few days and noticed a pile of brass cut up to lunch box size right in his work area. The pieces of brass would have been 4 feet long I know I cut them loose and was looking for them that Monday morning. I left the previous Wens. A magnet wouldn't have picked them up obviously. There would have been three of them 12 feet long. I looked and found his pile. He had already taken half off them. They were cut up into six inch pieces. Not only did he waste my time and money he was using it to steal. He called off that day with a bs reason as it was so it was just icing on the cake for him to be fired. That and lack of general production. The best part was I waited to file his protest on the last day via fax and my co worker told me he had a post on facebook saying he got a job as a tree trimmer and he was sending me texts about me filing his unemployment. So he was going to get paid cash and collect unemployment not on my watch.

I couldn't have said it better. I think the results of the election are a clear indication of what you are saying. If you are too lazy to make a way for yourself then just take it from someone else. Sad where we are headed. I hope some people wake up and start turning this country around again. It's always heartbreaking when a trusted employee steals from you. I went to my local yard yesterday and the owner told me he let go a couple of his employees for stealing, and these were guys I liked and b.s.'d with every visit.

That was a half a year ago. He hasn't collected anything and the case is closed. Dealing with unemployment was surprisingly a breeze. I don't think I was on the phone with her for more then 2 minutes. Trust me the state doesn't want to pay anything to anyone right now. To be honest with you if I would have laid him off and he would have been a model employee I would have gladly paid my part of unemployment to him. Instead he choose to be a nuisance and lazy. AXED.

in ohio,if you are fired or quit you also get no unemployment.there are somer exceptions but you would have to prove racisim or sexism first.you can draw it after quitting if you had to drive over 100 miles round trip each day,its called hardship reasons i believe

it is one of the perks of the job, people that work at restaurants get free food, people that work at retail get discounts and first shot at merchandise, people that pick up the trash get the good stuff, and so on

some of the perks are legit and some are not, but its all relative, people like that are going to lie cheat and steal regardless of where they work

the government will give these people a free ride whether they are working or not, they will just get another job and get layed off or fired and end up drawing welfare or unemployment

id rather see these people working than the rest of us paying their welfare or jail expenses, i say just fine them and make them serve community service, 20 hours of community service a week will cut into there free time to steal more stuff
I buy and sell all types of scrap and escrap. I buy specialty and hard to sell escrap. I buy resale items. PM me or contact me at jghilino@hotmail.com
I AM ACTIVELY BUYING ESCRAP OF ALL TYPES. BOARDS, RAM, CPUS AND MUCH MORE

"the government will give these people a free ride whether they are working or not, they will just get another job and get layed off or fired and end up drawing welfare or unemployment"

You know the old saying about "birds of a feather flock together" - liars, cheaters, elected officials - need I say more.
