    UK scrapping laws / licences

Hi, did a search but couldnt find a similar thread, please feel free to move / merge.

Any scrappers from the Uk here? Am I right in understanding that a single person, not a registered buisness, at the moment 16/10/2012, only needs ID to weigh in scrap materials? I know from December that a license is required and payment must be made by cheque, so it is registered on the system. Just wondering what is needed at the moment. Thanks for any advice. :-)

At the moment just the ID for scrap procured from the home. Large vans or trucks full of scrap are unlikely to be seen by environment officers as home waste and so if stopped by them, you will need a waste carriers licence. The yards however will take any quantity with just the ID.
