    Update:

To date, I have sent two pallets to Liberty Laser. Both times they were able to coordinate free pick-ups that day, once within two hours of me making the call. I netted just shy of $70 for both pallets, which is less than I hoped for but probably better than I might have done, otherwise. I was able to move things out faster and in higher volume, which is my ideal. And frankly, most of what I get is what Staples won't take, like drilled-out units or China cores, which is what the public brings us. They are basically worthless but LL got them out of here for free. That has tremendous value. In the past, I have spent hours poring over toner buy lists and it's been about as profitable as metal detecting at the local ballfield. Even if I did lose a few bucks on the values in bulk shipment, per piece, it was a timesaver, one that let me put my attentions on stuff that has higher ROI.

If you have room for an extra gaylord or two for all of your unsorted toners, boxed or otherwise, or if you have access to a steady stream of high-end toners like virgin HP and Brother stock, this is a worthwhile venture.

No time to read this whole thread...So did we come up with a good buyer? I'll totally start pulling cartridges from the 6 pallets of printers I average per month. Mostly office style laser jets which should have some value. I just don't really want to spend the time sorting and grading if I'm not going to make much.

I've been looking at them for a while. I have quit the pile. Was actually looking at setting up a "fund raiser" for my wife's daycare. It looks like schools and other organizations are not looked at as close in regards to testing, etc.

A new person posted in another thread but I don't think she has tried them yet. I told her to post results here if she does.

Have you looked at Planet Green for the inks? That's our go-to but they don't handle toner. They also take weird crap like FitBits, calculators, and phones. They payouts have been excellent, given the quality, and they've never stiffed us in over two years.

LL has yet to reply to a third shipment request I put in almost nine months ago. The industry people I've talked to seem to agree that the toner buyback world is essentially over, as the flood of cheap and non-reusable pieces have subsumed the demand for reclaimed carts.

I loved TonerBuyer but we are just out of time at the shop to scan through buylists, at this point.

We got our check today. $38.25, which is what we thought it would be. We sent in about 39 empty inkjets that ranged from 5 cents to 3 dollars, for a total of 32 dollars. We also sent in a few old unused new cartridges for 6.25 dollars. Shipping was paid by Dazz Cycle. We have a ton of laser toner cartridges to go thru, but will probably wait to see what happens with the coronavirus. It put a damper on prices for toner cartridges. Not enough people in offices for large demands.

Just a note for anyone deciding to give this a shot. They do say that shipments recieved from individuals are scrutinized and circuit tested. Sounds like they were burned before by recyclers. If it is set up under a school or non-profit, they don't verify as much.

During the summer, we sent dazz an email inquiring about box weight limitations and not being able to meet minimum values at that weight. Never got a response. This week, we requested prepaid labels for 2 boxes of empty toners. Took 2 emails to get a response and they responded they are not buying empty toners at this time. Website has not been updated.
Have to say, I'm not impressed with customer service at this time.
I understand covid is effecting the market, but change your website and answer emails promptly.

So we sent in a box of toner cartridges, struggled to get the $15 minimum and stay under 15 pounds. Guess that happens when cartridges are still partially full.

FedEx has apparently lost our box. Sent an E-mail to Dazz Cycle asking about a claim and who should file it. They said the $15.75 was not worth filing a claim and they would just pay me the full amount. Will update when a check is recieved.

Also have a second box to send out soon.

Good to know. I was noticing that the ink refilling kiosks and boutiques are mostly all gone lately, then most ink cartridges / toners recycling box program are also gone. I think that I was at the hospital 6 weeks ago and I got surprised enough to remember it when I saw that lonely box in the aisle on my way to the cafeteria there.

Update on my ink/toner shipments for 2021:

In the past few years I was slowly accumulating enough ink and toner cartridges to send it. The good news is that 2021 was my best year so far (106k pounds of electronics)! This year I evaluated used ink cartridges, new toners, and used toners. As is turns out, when you're getting in larger volumes, you can actually make some money on cartridges more frequently. Below is what I found:

    For used ink cartridges:

Dazzcycle is great! I sent 3 in different shipments in 2021 of just ink cartridges and made $300-$500. Again, ink cartridges are not something that will make you rich, but will definitely help pay the bills. The thing I did find interesting was that dazzcycle wanted all cartridges sealed (either in bags or using a bag sealer). I mean, ink is a complete mess when it spills so that makes sense. I used a bag sealer since that's what I had, but resealable bags would also work well.

    For used toner cartridges:

I had 4 gaylords completely full of toner cartridges (all unboxed). As you can imagine, that's a lot of toners. We went through all 4 of those gaylords and came to the conclusion that toners are just not worth sending in anymore. Out of 4 gaylords, the final total was sitting at $28.50. After 2020, the whole refilled toner market really took a hit. We did find that the best ones were lexmark cartridges paying roughly $1.50 each. After seeing the low prices I just toss all of my toners into the same bin (both compatible and name brand units).

    For new toner cartridges:

I gave tonerbuyer a shot at the beginning of this year and had a good experience. Again, selling new, name-brand units online yourself will get you more money. However, if you're like me who barely keeps up with what is coming in (matador can attest to this lol) getting a decent payout is better than nothing. I sent in a pretty good sized pile of new units (enough to fill 2x 2'x2'x2' boxes full and a third unit partially full).

    For new ink cartridges:

I have at least 50 new cartridges floating around in the warehouse that I'm hoping to ship out in January. I'll definitely post an update when those go out.

I have had a lot of success selling anything new in box on ebay even if expired....out of hundreds sold over the years only ever had one issue and just issued a refund....I know everyone has their own feelings about ebay but for new in box cartridges or toner I don't know a better way to maximize profits.....Honestly I don't see how any decent sized ewaste biz could stay competitive without ebay

Our box mysteriously showed up. It was lost (fed ex) between Pittsfield, MA (12/17) and Rennsellear, NY (1/6). 18 days to travel about 1 hr

Christmas time rush is over... It looks like they didn't rotate what they have in the sorting plant. What arrives first, should leave first instead of storing the older packages in the back and always picking the most recent packages on the front.
NEW TO SCRAPPING? READ THIS: Build up your horde of magnetic and non-magnetic metals in two piles until you have a better understanding of the business. Magnetic material has low value and is mostly always steel / shred / short iron. Read old threads about non-magnetic metals and ewaste (and how to sort them), but don't forget that they generally have absolutely no tolerance for contamination (screw / iron / foreign material).

I found something interesting a little while back. Some FedEx drivers were dumping their packages in ditches, woods and other places. It's more then one driver and in different states and such.

If interested in checking it out just put something like "FedEx dumped packages" into YouTube and the stories will show.
