    new e-scrapper needs biz advice

hello all, i have a non profit in my area that is interested in selling me some of the electronics from their business. they get in at least a box full (4ft x 4ft x 4ft) of different electronics each day. i am needing to get a quote to her for desktops and laptops, servers, cell phones, flat screen tv's and flat screen monitors soon. i am just starting out in e-cycling and would like to ask the experienced members to please give me some idea of what to quote per piece.
from what i have read here i am thinking desktops and laptops $3 and servers $4. i don't have any idea what to quote for the flat screens as they will all be different sizes. regular cell phones $1, smart phones $2. also feel free to pm me with any advice on starting an e-waste company. thanks ya'll...looking forward to hearing from you.

Welcome to the world of E waste. The answers to all of your questions can be found on this forum by using the search button. What you will pay will depend on what you are selling your scrap for and who you are selling it to. I would suggest that you read up and be prepared for dealing with a non profit organization.

your prices seem ok, for whole products, I don't do tvs or monitors of any kind. dish boxes have a hi grade board, I will give $1/$2 for them a lot depends on volume and frequincy. comp scrapping is all about volume. more volume the price goes up.

contracts can be a good thing as long as you allow for the volital market. thats why a split is good. Show her current tin prices and remind her of the trash you will accumulate and the work involved in the process.

Taking mixed electronics will get you a lot of "dead wood". Some of that stuff will only have low grade (brown boards). If you have someone that buys low grade then you can get gas money for it but you won't get rich off of them.

On monitors. Crt 50 cents each. LCD 15-25" 50 cents. LCD/plasma 26" - 40 75 cents. lcd plasma 41" or larger $1 each. I make about $5 on a crt or lcd monitor reguardless of size.

Give me a call and we can talk about non-profits. We buy a lot from non-profits every day. I can also help with suggestions on what to do with what you get from them. Some should be scrapped and others sold.

Mind if I ask how you can pay the same for CRT's & LCD's...??? Do you have a proper way of handling the CRT's or...?!? Don't mean to hijack but I've never seen anyone give that kind of quote before...

@ maneddi I think your prices look good... but with the cell phones...I buy them @ $6/lbs (smartphone or not) and that can be readily found online. I agree with happyscrapper though...their will be a lot of junk in there but it's a great way to get your name out and the product in...welcome to the forum and best of luck!!!
