    fridges and freezers

    well my yard no longer accepts fridges or freezers. I dont know what to do now.

    They stopped taking refrigerators and freezers from everyone or just the people not on file?

    wayne1956- no reason why. they just have a sign up that says not buying or accepting fridges of freezers as of Aug. 31

    Had they been taking untagged items without freon properly removed and gotten busted for it? I know of a nearby yard that takes fridges whole and I suspect puts them right into the shredder.

    Sounds like they may have been caught by the EPA with un-documented refrigeration units. It's a big money maker for the EPA. I've worked with a couple of yards getting them into compliance and it's not all that hard.

    It seems to me that they are just shorting themselves. If they are concerned about freon, they can just make sure the compressor has been removed. I know of one yard that does not like stuff being put inside the fridge, so they require the doors to be removed so they can see nothing else is inside (including glass shelves).

    i would call yard and ask why maybe fruther processing is needed to comply with their policies
