Most of the computers I got from the school district were 30 lb desktops. I found a place a few hours away that paid me $.46/lb for complete desktops, so I left them whole and took them down there. I ran the numbers on those before takeng them in and I got paid more for complete computers than breaking them down. the smaller ones I broke down and took the motherboards (all p4) to closer buyer for $3/lb. I only had about 60lbs of motherboards. If I can start saving hundreds of pounds of motherboards, I'll definitely he sending them out. The rest of the components I took with the complete desktops as they have decent prices for components except motherboards. The big problem with them is they are 2.5 miles away and require 2000 lbs for good pricing. But I made it worth it with almost 3500 lbs of computers...

Unfortunately, money from recycling is my families 'fun' money. If we decide we want to do something unplanned, I make a trip to sell stuff. I usually sell motherboards locally and save up the other components larger loads.
