Sure, Wayne. That chip has a square gold cap on both sides of it making it a gold double cap. Some have a gold cap on either the top or the bottom. Others have no gold cap.

i got a Pair of inlet double gold caps yesterday. My first real good ones, i just hope the farther i keep going into this barn im cleaning out the more ill find.

You won't find them often unless you come across a great honey hole....They are rare but not impossible to find.
The Pentium chip in my photo at the begining of this thread is a Double gold chip. The third photo is the face and the 4th photo is the pin side. Are they rare? For me one out of more than 100 towers before I got one. Mike.

They are fairly rare....I have only found 2 or 3 of them over the past several years of ripping apart old computers. I have actually found more Pentium Pro processors than the double gold cap chips. Don't expect to find a lot of these processors at all. One out of a hundred is not a bad average actually.

i go back tomorrow ill let you know if i find anymore. the place in the barn he had the old computer stuff is falling in so i go to be careful but the stuff i grabbed from the edge paid for the gas and food for the crew i got cleaning out the rest of the heavy metal. so far i already broke even just in the first 3 steel hauls so anything now is fun money. Lets hear it for hanging out at funeral homes passing out business cards. ( Anyone doing this be clean cut, have a heart and just try and help a family through a hard time and it could pay off big!!!)

yup pulled my first one yesterday along with several single gold 386, 486 and one baby 387, wich comes as a companion in some of the 386 IBMs nice go guy. will post pics later if I can find my d*** camera.

Olddude were you doing the "Happy Gold Dance" when you found all those 486/386 processors? I have done this dance many times....It provides much entertainment for neighbors, co-workers, loved ones and the odd mailperson that happens to wander past.
