Computer wires

I've been trying to find a definitive answer on this, but I cant seem to get it by looking through past threads. I'm sure its there...I just cant see it!



My question is: What is Done with the Multi colored wires that are coming from the power supply? Are the ribbon wires any good? Any info on those wires would be great. I just stripped my first PC tower today...10 more left

I just put all my wires together and turn them in as low grade

i cut the ends off of the ribbon cable and any other ends that look gold plated, those ends go into the gold bearing bucket, all of my insulated wire, ribbon cable included goes in the insulated bin, found a yard near me paying $1.00 lb for insulated.
to me trying to strip any wires from a computer is too much of a pain in the pooper.

at my yard ribbon cable is 25% and other computer wires is 38% both pay under $1.

The normal insulated, like from the power supply etc just get clipped and put in my 65% bucket. Thats what my yard calls it. Get between $1.20-1.50 a pnd for that.

The ribbon wire, otherwise known as "chit wire", lol, goes in my "chit wire" bucket. With the cords from the backs of computer monitors. I get .50 c a pnd for that stuff.

My yard has 3 grades, 80% copper bearing, 55% and 30%. 55% pays out about $1/lb, the 33% about $.50/lb.

My ribbon wire goes in the $.50/lb pile, all other computer wires and cords go into the $1/lb pile. Just took in over 250 lbs of mixed computer wires much of which was monitor cable wire, etc with no issues for $1.08/lb.

As was said though every yard is different. The first yard I went to gave me $.38/lb for all the wire so I don't go back there.
