Looking for someone to buy car computers!

I am looking to start taking out all computers from the vehicles that i do and i am trying to find someone to buy the computers.
Are they worth anything or even worth taking out is the 1st question i guess!

I have sold many things to them, I have no affiliation with them.

assuring they work resell on Ebay etc would be best bet...otherwise a core buyer like the one mentioned by scapman makes the most sense...
PROFIT is made when you BUY/ACQUIRE NOT when you sell

Bob Stackhouse use to be the king of car computers but I think he retired. You can try LQK also.

I would opened them up and remove the board before I would sell them as car weight.

I am also in need of this. The guy I use to sell them to has turned his phone off. I will not sell them as breakage. I will try selling them on Ebay if I have to.

The boards are mid and high grade ... I buy them purely for scrap value ...
Also the vehicle control units, Onstar unit, anti-theft devices, detachable radio face plates, smart mirrors, digital cameras, touch screen units, and other related "junk" in a car has e-scrap value.

The boards can go for $1.50 - $4.00 a pound most of the time ... depending on type and grade.

Was/Is this scrap value based on last weeks commodity market? I hate to say it, but I'm thinking those numbers are smidge high. I'd grade most vehicle boards @ 1-1.25 a lb Lots of Aluminum and epoxy.

If you're scrapping it, take out the board.

Board value isn't based on that ... the valuable metals that drive the prices are gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and ( for low grade boards ) copper.
Do some Googling ( or look in this forum ), many companies post prices they pay per pound - no guess work involved !

I haven't run through that many auto boards, but I would have to agree with IamTheGreatest. $0.30-$1.50 is what I have seen. I have yet to see one that would be considered telecom grade, and some of them have too much excess plastic on the connector and other materials that really decreases the value.

Sadly enough, I don't even have the energy to confront any of this.... But I was just thinking... that the aluminum case is almost worth more than the board is. I'm not a huge fan of the computers. I've done a few that were "white" Aluminum and one that was a cast chunk. Nothing I'd go hunting down

The boards I have seen have a good amount of 'paint drop Tantis' and the IC's & other parts seem to be old school low grade looking.
I agree, the connectors are big, don't contain Gold...
The Ali has value. It negates itself if you have to pay postage to send that weight somewhere to sell it as escrap.

So it looks like we are back to >>
Sell the ones with a core value to a buyer like RAS
and toss all the ZERO value ones in the back seat of the next car heading across the scale
